to Sawgrass mill

by 75Antonio

Hello ,
Does anyone know if there is a shuttle bus from Miami beach to Sawgrass mill shopping center?

Re: to Sawgrass mill

We used each time we were in Florida to finish our stay in the Sawgrass Mills to buy gifts for our children (mainly clothes).

I suggest you rent a car for a day. It is not more expensive than the shuttle and you will be free.

Travel Tips for Miami

The tropical paradise.

by Mitjo

I visited in Fairchild Tropical Garden on january 2004. It was a great place. They take really good care of the plants and of the landscape. It was beautiful.
The place is huge, and it took a while to walk around it. Staff were nice and helpful.

Art Deco HIstoric District

by cobrioc

The Deco District , one of the largest areas in the USA , to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places , is in the very heart of South Beach. Its unique hotels and apartment buildings have now been renovated . The Deco District is bounded by Dade Blv. at the north , 6th St at the south , the Atlantic Ocean at the east and Lenox Court at the west.

Mix your flavors - give your tastebuds a treat!

by Homanded

Cubans are big into mixing flavors.

Cuban food, contrary to many a tourist's expectation is not HOT spicey as many a Mexican food is. Quite the contrary, most Cubans have a very low tolerance for anything spicey.
Flavors instead, center on Caribbeean tastes blending Lime/Garlic/Onion/Cilantro/and Olive Oil to give food a refreshingly and unique flavor.

Meats are marinated before being fried, baked or broiled and are usually accompanied by a couple of starch dishes and another protein - beans.

Another curious food trait of the Cubans is our like for mixing combinations of sweet and salty together such as fried sweet plantains with steak and rice/beans or Sweet fruit filled pastries with our buttered bread in the mornings.
Try the combination, you will enjoy!

Antonio's Ultralight Seaplane Adventures

by grandmaR

When we were on a mooring at Rickenbacker Marina, there was an ultralight place right next to us at the end of the causeway. They did instruction and they have ultralights for sale (new or used)

15 hours of instruction costs $1820 prepaid. Their website says

The Ultralight Pilot License (ACS Aerodynamic Control Sea) issued through the USUA, takes approximately two weeks to complete, weather permitting, requiring 15 hours of ultralight flight. Within that time frame you will be given instruction in basic ultralight water handling including, plow, and step taxi procedures. The student will then start Basic Air Maneuvers, flying the ultralight aircraft straight level, "S" turns, climbs and descents, using power, collision avoidance through an effective scan, slow flight, and stall. They also do tours. Any one route is $70, two combined routes is $90, up to all 5 routes for $180

Routes
A Bayside / Cruise Ship Row / Star Island
B South Beach / Fisher Island / Virginia Key
C Key Biscayne - Lighthouse / Stiltsville
D Dinner Key / Coconut Grove / Vizcaya
E Brickell / Brickell Key / Downtown /
