Re: TAXI

Here's an entire list with phone numbers for taxi companies in Miami.
I've always used Yellow Taxi but, they'll be a dime a dozen outside the airport:

First time in Miami

by Mesje

We plan to visit Miami for a week as a part of our caribbean vacation, and since we have never been there, i would like to know some informations:
1) In which locality (district) in Miami (or Fort Lauderdale) do you recommend to stay to be close to nice beaches and a beach promenade for evening walking, shopping or playing in playground with our son ?
2) Which attractions do you recommend me for 2-years child ? I found the Jungle Island park, but its all (Orlando parks are far for us)...
3) Which mall (or shopping area) do you recommend for good value shopping in Miami (or in Fort Lauderdale)? I have read about Sawgrass mills, but it looks a little bit further then i expect. Then i am thinking about Dolphin mall and Aventura mall. Or some other? I would prefer that one with good public traffic connection (i dont want to rent a car) and a good children corner is a bonus. Please advise me the one with best prices (for clothes, shoes, etc)
Thanks for every advice

Travel Tips for Miami

Miami Architecture

by mikey_e

What downtown Miami lacks in warmth and welcome, it certainly makes up for in architecture. As a city, Miami captures well its reputation as a centre of design and fashion in its skyline, with a mixture of buildings that immortalize the various stages of the city’s cultural history. The downtown core has a large number of glass skyscrapers in various shapes and sizes, some of which incorporate murals reminiscent of Latin American art. Other buildings constructed according to Spanish Colonial, Art Deco and neo-Classical styles create a rich impression of artistic and creative vibrancy that emanates from the city. This is a perfect place to simply wander around with a camera and take pictures of random buildings.

Packing List

by Tom95South

Bring a Bathing suit. Short sleeve shirts and t-shirts. Spring, summer, and fall are real hot. Winter is warm with the occasional cold front that should pass within a day or two. A gun - just kidding, we don't really shoot tourists for fun down here...well, sometimes :-)

Miami-Dade County, which...

by spartan

Miami-Dade County, which includes Miami Beach, has been dubbed 'Capital of the Americas,' a crossroads where neighbors from many nations to the south share their music, their cuisine, their culture. It's also a preferred choice of those who want to enjoy paradise-like weather and crystal-clear beaches while dining and being entertained in a culture that says, Only in Miami.

Rushing Water and Flowering Plants

by grandmaR about The Falls

This is a big open air mall with plank walks, waterfalls (as in the name) and landscaping. The big name stores are Bloomingdale's, Macy's plus a giant United Artists megaplex, but there are more than 100 stores altogether.

The Falls is especially noted for its specialty stores, including April Cornell, Crate & Barrel, Enzo Angiolini, Laura Ashley, bebe, BCBG, Cache, Coach, Express, Rampage and Williams-Sonoma.

In addition to hot dogs and hoagies from the food court or from Johnny Rocket's, you can eat at restaurants like P.F. Chang's, Prezzo Italian and Seasons. There are also less upscale places like T.G.I. Fridays and Los Ranchos Restaurant Shopping is not my thing, so I can't tell you what to buy. I've only been here to dinner at P.F. Changs.
