Bruscetta in Doral
by el_ruso about Bruscetta
One of the best restaurants in the city is well worth the drive into Doral if you like Italian food. Also unlike most other nice restaurants and chain franchises, you can get a table without the wait on busy nights (well, usually). Service is good, food is excellent, but the place is really loud. everything

fontainebleau resort hotel
by doug48
this hotel is probably the most famous site in miami beach. built after WWII it was the premiere entertainment venue of the 1950's and 1960's. the fontainebleau showcased the famous stars of that era like frank sinatra, joey bishop, dean martin, etc. the fontainebleau bar, the boom-boom room, became famous because of the televison show "surf side 6". the fontainebeau has been renovated several times over the years and is now a first class resort hotel. the famous entertainment venues of miami beach like the castaways, the starlight room at the doral and the rooney plaza are all gone. one of the few sites of old miami beach that still exists.

Fabulous Spa Vacation!! Not for kids!
by TripAdvisor Member Jewel21Dance
After reading all the negative reviews I had to write. My friend and I (both women) stayed at the Doral in May 2004 for the most amazing Spa weekend! This place is all about luxury. It is not a family resort kind of place so do not bring the kids. It's a place where the guys go golfing while the women hit the spa (or vice versa) ALL DAY LONG! I had the most relaxing time, the rooms were beautiful, huge and the spa out of this world. We're going back for another spa weekend! Yes it's expensive but hey you are paying for luxury. BTW, the eggs benedict at their restaurant is fabulous!
A wonderful stay

My husband and I spent 5 days / 4 nights at Doral during early December. While my husband was there to attend a tennis convention, I went along for golf lessons, some sun, and to enjoy the resort's facilities. Happily, he had some free time, so we were able to enjoy the resort together. First, the service was off the charts fabulous! In fact, while the resort itself was very nice, we've stayed at equally nice - or better - places. What made Doral special was the staff. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt "known" and taken care of. The front desk staff was incredibly helpful, the concierge sevices led us to great off-site dining, and the Champions servers were some of the best I've ever met! We ate at Champions for 4 lunches and one dinner, at Bungalou for 1 lunch, had room service for most breakfasts, ate at Windows on the Green for one dinner, took golf lessons at the Jim McLean Golf Academy (!!!), and I made use of the spa's services. Needless to say, we took full advantage of the resort. Our complaints: Windows on the Green was a bit of a disappointment (too pricey for the food) and the 20% service that is automatically added to everything was unexpected b/c there is also a "extra tip" line on each check. Either add the 20% and forbid extra tipping, or take away the 20% and let guests tip as they want. Truly, compared to our wonderful stay, our "complaints" are minor. Highly recommended!
Spa Massages and Facials
by A TripAdvisor Member
After many spa experiences in Europe, across the mainland US and Hawaii, I would rate my recent massage experience at the Doral Spa the worst I ever had. The room was freezing cold. The staff wore windbreakers and sweaters throughout the spa area. I requested a room heater and was told that the fire marshall had removed them the week before (not entirely true, one of my spa partners told me she had a heater in her room and it still was not warm enough). I also suggested that heating pads be used beneath the client to make them more comfortable. The therapist did add some additional towels for coverage, but you cannot get a proper massage under layers of towels. The massage therapist told me the problem was a new HVAC system that the local maintenance staff could not or would not adjust because it had been installed by a sub-contractor. The massage therapist suggested I immediately go to the sauna or steam room after the massage to warm my body.
The facial, on the other hand, was about average. A heating pad was provided to make the temperature more comfortable. Pleasant enough but not exceptional.
In my opinion. there are much better spas in the Miami area.
An Exclusive Paradise!!!

Me and my husband stayed at this heaven on earth during the Memorial weekend. I cannot speak for the Resort it's self, but the Spa rooms are breath-taking. The service was wonderful (thanks Raul), and the atmosphere was a complete shock. Many places do not look as good as the picyures you see on the internet. But the Spa rooms are far better in person. My husband and I found our self saying "I hope heaven looks like this".
Let's talk about $$$$

What a beautiful place! Not much to do if you don't golf unless you rent a car which you must do to keep busy. Now, to speak about food! TERRIBLE & TOO PRICEY!!!! $8.50 for a bottle of water thats just an idea of what you would spend.
Though I must say....... My husband LOVED it & I know we will be back.

Thanks for the replies. My hotel is between NW 77th av and NW 41st st. It sounds like only 10 minute driving... I think it should be fine...
