Driving from Miami Int's Airport to Plantation

by bobbysock

I have read the posts to this site and I am somewhat concerned about driving from MIA to Plantation.

Directions given to me were 112 to 95 and then hook onto the Turnpike or take nw 32nd street west for about 2-3 miles to 826 (Palmetto Hwy) north, take 826 north to 75 north and then catch 595 east.

Safety is my concern. Which of these two directions would be the safest to travel on.

Thank you

For MIA-Plantation mapping and driving information go to http://www.miami-airport.com/driving_directions.asp - type your address and get map and driving directions. I'll get on the expressway right at the airport and get off in Plantation, so the drive will be safe.

For additional info about MIA, go to http://www.miami-airport.com/site_map.asp

Travel Tips for Miami

GETTING AROUND

by cheesecake17

Miami International Airport is 6 miles west of the city.

A cab from the airport should cost around $24, or you can take one of the 24-hour SuperShuttle minivans, which will deliver you to any address in Miami for $9-15
(tel 305/871-2000, ).

From the airport, take the #7 Metrobus to downtown, a trip of 30 minutes or so ($1.25, exact fare required its available every 40min

Mon-Fri 5.30am-8.30pm, Sat & Sun 7am-7pm)

or the 'J' Metrobus ($1.25 plus a 25¢ surcharge to South Beach; every 30min daily 5.30am-11.30pm) to Miami Beach farther on.

If you arrive late at night, the Airport Owl shuttle runs in a loop through South Beach, downtown and back to the airport ($1.25; once hourly, 11.50pm-5.50am).

Greyhound's Miami West station is a short cab ride from the airport, while the other major terminal is downtown at 100 W 6th St

. The Amtrak station, 8303 NW 37th Ave, is 7 miles northwest. To get downtown or to Coconut Grove or Coral Gables from here, take Metrobus #L to the Metrorail, eight blocks away.

Habla Español!!!

by mary_hardy

There is a large population of spanish-speaking people in Miami. Sometimes you will find it difficult to communicate because some don't speak english at all. I recommend to bring along your diccionario de español!!!

American Airlines Arena

by grandmaR

American AIrlines Arena is right by Bayside and Miamarina. In addition to being the home of the Miami Heat (which I understand is a basketball team), they also have a lot of concerts there.

While we were there in March there were two Miami Heat games, a Britney Spears concert and Disney on Ice.

Miami is a really great place....

by coast2coast

Miami is a really great place. It does have a high crime rate in certain places, but that shouldn't be a problem with common sense. The Metro Zoo is very good. Also , if you have time, check out Vizcaya Mansion-a match for many of the best grand homes of Europe and else where. There are some good museums in Miami too. Take your pick.
