Miami airpot to Fort Lauderdale

by veronicasimcoe

Hi Everyone, in September 2011 My husband and I will be arriving in Miami Florida and we will be staying in Fort Lauderdale for 5 nights. What is the easiest and cheapest way to travel from Miami airport to fort lauderdale please. We then need to get to the Miami cruise ship port from Fort Lauderdale. Does anyone have any good suggestions please.

Hello
The cheapest way is to take the Tri-rail.
The easiest is a taxi but very expensive.
Tri-rail is pretty easy also and faster.

We used Jewel Limo's when we went from the Double Tree FLL to the port and there were 12 of us with a lot of luggage. Jewel was great, reasonable and even early to pick us up at the hotel.

Travel Tips for Miami

Downtown Miami

by call_me_rhia

Miami is called the "City of Change" and you can see why in its downtown area… it’s full of contrasts… little houses and shops and tall modernistic glass skyscrapers... the very same sight you have seen hundreds of times in Miami-based TV series. Downtown Miami is the central business district of South Florida, as the many banks and international hotel chains will suggest. The most interesting of all buildings, in my opinion, is the Bank of America Tower at International Place with its own metro station.

I Want to live in America

You want to come and live in America?

Well the first smart thing to do is,
to inquire what are the options.

(Refer to Zen Tips)

From there you choose
the steps that you will take.

If you don't win the lottery
it’s better to come over to the USA
with some type of visa
that will allow you to apply
for a more permanent one,
rather than over staying a tourist visa.

There will be forms to fill out,
and patience is required.

But you will be in the process,
which allows you to remain in the US legally.

food on a flight to miami

by cochinjew

If you are flying First Class on a domestic flight to Miami, there is a good chance that they would serve a hot dish and wine.
On this short flight today, I was given
mushroom soup
calzone cheese and chicken
vegetable salad
salsa
sparkling water
a glass of californian syrah, and yet another after the meal.
chocolates

this on my favourite north american airline
continental airlines based in houston and new york.

Hurricane Warning

by praetorianxxxv

I would be remiss if I did not pay homage to my childhood heroes of the 80's, the University of Miami Hurricanes Football program. During my time in Miami, I can remember a few games at the Orange Bowl. It is a unique experience in that when the crowd gets riled up, you can feel the stadium literally move. It is safe and sturdy, however it is a conduit that allows you to feel the passion and excitement of Hurricane Football fans. No they don't have a catchy fight song like Notre Dame, and by the way the mascot is not a stork, it is an Ibis and his name is Sebastian. Seminole and Gator fans share a mutual disdain for my beloved 'Canes since the past few years have shown that Miami, has sent them all packing back to their locker rooms defeated and bruised. It has been awhile since the last national championship was brought to Miami, but time can produce miracles when you least expect it. Oh this is easy, beer, orange and green face paint, sunscreen, binoculars to view the great plays (or the latina hermosas in the stands).

Take it easy in the Keys!

by wahine76

I strongly recommend you take a trip to the Florida Keys and Key West while youre in South Florida. Key West is like a tropical Cape Cod...haven to many artists and writers such as Ernest Hewingway, Robert Frost and many other ones! Even though, Key West is not renowned for its beaches, there are many other things to do there. Its an historic town, so lots of things to see in the Old Town district, scuba diving or snorkelling (they have the only reef barrier in North America!), sunset celebration in Mallory Square and having the best key lime pie in the World!

Its easy to get there by either driving, flying or boating. Its about 3 hours drive by car, 4-5 hours by greyhound and it costs about $50 round trip/person.
