Has anyone else had trouble with their GoMiami card?

by iowateachers

We are on vacation in Miami and paid almost $300 for Go Miami cards and have run into a lot of trouble. Infinity tours has been a nightmare. Wondering if this is a common thing? Were we scammed? We were planning on buying a goChicago card before this happened for our next trip, but after having more than one big issue with it we aren't sure what our next course of action should be. This has ruined our honeymoon and the both Infinity and GoMiami's office do not seem to care. They both hung up and put me on permanent hold during my first few tries. Any advice would help! I would hate to see this happen to someone else. We work very hard to earn a living, and $300 isn't something we just want to throw out the window. I've been told to just fill out paperwork and we may get some kind of refund, but considering the way we were talked to on the phone I don't know. How can we prevent this from happening to other people? How can we get them to make this right? We are still on vacation... at least what's left of it.

There's also a Florida Consumer Services line:
1-800-HELP-FLA (435-7352) when calling from Florida, 850-488-2221 when outside of Florida, or 1-800-FL-AYUDA (352-9832) en EspaƱol.

And ... there's Christopher Elliott, the msnbc travel guy who will contact the people when there are clearly stated issues: chris@elliott.org

I live in Florida and have never heard of a GoMiami card. If it is a scam. you should report it to the appropriate florida departments as listed above. The state of Florida take any type of scam very seriously since we are dependent on tourist dollars. Certainly do not buy anything else from this company and report them, help someone else.

Travel Tips for Miami

Sun yourself in Miami Beach -...

by PartyRambo

Sun yourself in Miami Beach - I'd only spent about an hour on Venice Beach, CA a couple of years ago (I never was a 'sun' person), but this time it was definitely a different experience.

I will warn other 'pale-skinned-winter-lovers' to be careful in the sun - it didn't take long for me to burn those parts which I didn't cover in sunscreen - I'd lathered up before leaving the apartment, but when I got to the beach, I REMOVED MY SHOES(!!!) and walked across the beach - therefore, despite digging my toes into the warm sand while I lay back & read a good book, my feet got quite burned (they turned purple, actually!) The accomodations... they were FREE!
Relatives have a condo there, and their daughter has one in the same building, so between the two, I stayed a week at no charge - not too shabby, for a building on Ocean Drive in South Beach (the Miami nightlife 'hot-spot'), one of the condos looking out on the ocean - just a 60-second walk away...

Of course, one must give up SOMEthing for a free stay - so I had to enjoy 4 nights in the nice apartment with the ocean view, and 3 in the one under renovations, with boarded-up windows...

THE DISNEY PARKS
The Disney...

THE DISNEY PARKS
The Disney Parks in Florida are like a huge city. There are mainly 3 parks:
- DisneyWorld Miami.
- Epcot Center.
- MGM Studios.
The ticket costs 97 USD and allows you to enter any of the 3 parks during 4 days going into any of the attractions. People normally visit one of the parks each of the 3 first days, and repeat the favourite one on the 4th.

Key Biscayne

by goingsolo

Not to be confused with the Florida Keys, which are south of Miami, Key Biscayne is actually within city limits. This "island" is a small community of its own, with several nice yet uncrowded beaches as well as some good restaurants and the Miami Seaquarium.
