Holiday to Miami - help! :o)
by Echo89
Hey!
I'm in need for some advice - me and 3 of my girlfriends all turn 21 next year and want to celebrate big time! I've never been abroad before so this is all quite new to me so I'm in need of some help!
Our holiday aim is to have a lot of fun within the 2 weeks were there, hopefully commencing in July 2010.
Our budget will be £1000! Could you give me some information on where's hot and where's not but would ideally like the cheapest option.
We're thinking about renting an apartment, is this a good idea?
How expensive are the clubs and pubs?
How do we get about..i.e public transport?
Where is the best place to eat?
Also could you tell us roughly how much we will need to take i.e overall budget
Thank you very much in advance.

Please be specific when you say Miami. You probably want to stay in South Beach(SoBe) THIS IS CALLED South BEACH because it is below miami beach. Please Please stay at a decent apartment or hotel, it makes a difference in this area. If you stay in a cheap hotel you will regret it. Check the reviews carefully. If you stay in SoBe you really do not need any transportation, everything is within walking distance. Also July is VERY hot and the sun is very strong. You and your friends will have a great time in SoBe, do your research and have fun.

Miami is a great place to relax. If you like the beach and going out every night this is the place to be. The sunsets in Miami are unbelivable...
If you are on afternoon (around 6PM) in Miami Beach visiting the Art Deco Distric please take some minutes to cross Ocean Drive Av., go the beach, sit in the warm sand, and stay there contemplaining the sunset. It will be one of those picture moments that you probably won't forget. A Kodak moment...

Among the many gay/lesbian-friendly properties in the area are The Albion Hotel, Kenmore Hotel Hotel, Jefferson House, and the Shelly Hotel. Just off Collins Avenue, The Ritz Plaza Hotel has a GayEscape package,
most people speak Spanish
by goingsolo
Miami is approximately 60% Hispanic. As a result of this Latin American influence, there is a large Spanish speaking population, many of whom speak little or no English. Just something to keep in mind when asking for directions. Its not uncommon to be addressed in Spanish when entering a store or restaurant as the people who work there are used to people coming in and speaking Spanish. But, depending on the area of Miami, most people working in stores/restaurants, etc. do speak English and are willing to helo you out if you do not speak Spanish.

There is a local fruit and vegetable stand that's been around for years. Robert's Is Here, a place of nearly every kind of tropical fruit and vegetable that can be acquired.
Also, the milk shakes! They are made with all kind of tropical fruits. The greatest!
For extra treat you will find huge turtles on display.
You don't want to miss Robert's Is Here! Located at the end of Palm Drive in Florida City, Florida.
Traditional American Outlet Shopping
by CanuckMark about Sawgrass Mills
Sawgrass MIlls is a massive outlet mall complex located just a bit north of Miami. For those who have never been to this type of mega-mall, it might be worth the visit. It'll certainly make you think twice about consumerism...
It is a good place to buy clothing as the prices are discounted.
