The land of beaches and blue skies and FIT PEOPLE!
by Hexepatty
How peaceful it was this weekend! It wasn't too crowded, since this was offpeak time of year. And the folks were nice that we met. Beaches looked nice and clean and the streets and stores kept with the Art Deco theme. I was pretty impressed with South Beach, in short. This Sand Castle was 6 weeks old and still going! There was a guard there to protect it. Apparently they light it up at night!
Don't knock over the sandcastle
by HotSpotJ
Usually on South Beach you will find this huge sandcastle being built. I saw this drunk idiot run through it once. The police tackled him as if he was wanted for a double homicide. The sandcastle is really cool, and probably takes a long time to build, so for those frat kids on Spring break- leave it be.
Jazid
by goingsolo
Like Purdy, Jazid is a laid back S. Beach place which draws a crowd but has no need to make the crowd wait in line outside to build up interest in the place. Live jazz is played here. Its on the small side, but has a nice crowd of regulars and generally doesn't get too packed. Also, a great place to throw a private party.
Saturday Night Fever
by HotSpotJ about Mansion
This club used to be a favorite of mine when it was called Level a few years ago... it has a very spacious dance floor and many levels of VIP entrance.... the best nights to go here do change, but I recently went on a Friday and had a great time. REgular admission is $25 as of July 07. The VIP bottle service tables start at $400, and that was for 2 bottles... the club has a lower level dance floor with 2 bars, a mid level table seating area with a bar in the rear, and then upper levels with other VIP tables and a bit of privacy. The energy here is amazing and they always spinning a great mix of techno and hip-hop, and tons of ladies around to dance with! TIPS for those who are new to this place:
1- If you don't reserve VIP, and don't bring a gorgeous date(s), don't expect to get in. I see alot of bitter reviews about not having fun here- but what did these people expect? Underdressed guys on a budget will not have fun here! Matt Damon, LeBron James, Terrell Owens- these have been my table neighbors at Mansion. This is not a place just anyone would expect to get into. If you are an attractive female then you will see the door quicker than any handsome gentleman.
2- Hugo. The infamous Mansion bouncer (I've also seen him at Opium). If you want to get into Mansion Miami without a reservation, Hugo is your best friend or worst enemy, you make the call. Dress the part, look the part, act the part.
New Mynt
by goingsolo about Mynt
Not exactly brand new as its been around for a couple of months, but a pretty cool bar. The interior is green (hence the name) with green walls and lighting. Inside is the typical S. Beach scene with a VIP section, loud music and the south beach beautiful crowd. Expect to wait in line. dress up if you want to get in
