Outlet Shopping?

by Aussie_Tink

Hey there, just wondering if there are any outlet shopping malls closeby? We are staying on Washington, around 10th Ave in South Beach, near expensive stores such as Guess, Armani, Tommy etc & these definately aren't in our price range!

Definitely not in Miami Beach, which is all giltz and glamor. I don't remember seeing any outlet malls around the Miami area but you could google the key words and see what shows up. The highest concentration of outlet stores is in Orlando in the environs of Disney World, but that's about a 4 hour trip away by car.

Damn! Thanks for your reply! Not too keen on a 4 hour drive, spent way too much time travelling in the last few wks! Maybe i'll just have to enjoy over sized daiquiri's whilst i'm here! Thanks!

You are staying in a great area for eating, people watching, beach and the weather. This is not the place for outlet malls South Beach, Miami Beach are glitz and glitter. There are some mall close to the airport as mentioned but not near you. The only reasonable ?? area, depending on your budget, is Lincoln Rd or Esplanade Place which are both within walking distance from your hotel.
I prefer Esplanade Place, great places to eat and small shops to buy after dinner. All the restaurants do not require reservations and have hostesses on the street trying to get the business. I am staying in South Beach on Collins during the next month at the Catalina accross from the Raleigh. I would also recommend you going to either the National,Delano,Ritz or Raleigh and have a refreshment and walk around the property..very nice. Most of the hotels which are on the beach have great properties and worth the price of a drink. If you want for a joke go to Mangos on Ocean drive..real tourista, but looks like fun.
You will have a great time

Travel Tips for Miami Beach

Art Deco District

by Gypsystravels

Miam Beach is lined with building after wonderful building of Art Deco designs. I read that Miami Beach has the largest concentration of Art Deco buildings in the country, quite impressive.

Many of the art deco buildings are in use as hotels.

"Cuban crack"

by vanessadb

The coffee that most people drink here in Miami is a shot of Cuban coffee, which I call Cuban crack... as you might already now, Cubans are very numerous and powerful in Miami, and their coffee is made very strong with lots of sugar. Very sweet, delicious, but very dangerous as well: it is WICKED!
Order a colada from any Cuban cafeteria or restaurant (Versailles, David's Cafe, La Carreta, etc...) which will come with little plastic shot glasses. Don't drink more than two if you don't want to be literally wired for the next 12 hours though!
And for those of you who speak Spanish, I'll sum it up this way: El café cubano es al mundo del café lo que el tequila al mundo del licor. Ni se sorbe ni se saborea......¡se bebe!

Spend a Day or Two in Key West

by chrissyalex

There are one day and overnight trips available to Key West from Miami Beach. It really is a great place . I took the day trip, but once I was there,I really wished I had booked the overnight. This beautiful ride is about 3 and half hours from Miami Beach , but if you take the tour it will be 4 hours., because there is a 30 minute stop each way for refreshments in Islamorada and on the return in Key Largo.Once you arrive in Key West, you are free to spend your time as you like.
There really is alot to see and do on this tiny island surrounded by clear blue water It is really pretty with its cute, little white houses and many nice shops with unique artsy gifts. You can visit the Southernmost point of the USA which is only 90 miles from Cuba, see the cats at Hemingway's House, visit the Audobon House and Tropical Gardens, climb the stairs of the lighthouse for some beautiful views, take the Conch tour train for an interesting overview of the island and try of piece of the famous Key Lime pie.
A trip to the Key West cemetery is interesting as there are some tombstones with very unique epitaphs, but it takes awhile to find these stones.
There are also many other things to see here such as an aquarium .more museums, small beaches and boat tours to other islands in the Keys, which I unfortunately did not have time to see.

Hot nights in Miami......

by MOSSETT about Ocean Drive

Well you are spoilt for choice.
Most of the hotels have plenty of entertainment.
The Shoreclub has a four poster bed outside by the pool which is nice to relax in with a few drinks.
Playing pool or wandering up Ocean drive - there are loads of clubs if thats what your in to.

A unique and exotic lounge

by vanessadb about Tantra

Tantra is basically a restaurant that turns into a lounge/nightclub. The atmosphere is unique and beautiful (Middle Eastern) with actual grass on the floor; the food is excellent and aphrodisiac.
Also, try the strawberry water pipe..

The restaurant is in my opinion one of the best of Miami but also one of the most expensive.... Dressy
