I thought it was gonna be really expenssive. but it was pretty good for the price. and when I checked in , the concirge offered me severall great deals... the first of all was some nice company with a really nice lady. she came up to the room and gave me the royal treatment. wow! I mean this chick was great . I knew i really got my money's worth. so I gave the concirge a great big tip!
I loved the bars and all the hot ladies that came to hustle a buck from al lthe rich guys(loser's) like me. and at the end of all this I did'nt even worry about the cops!
thank you.
Unique Quality: great concirge service! a true (pimp)

Just Fashion

I was disappointed from the Delano, the room was so noisy that made my nights an inferno... and at $ 400,00 per night was an expensive noise. On the bright side the Hotel looks fantastic, the Philippe Starck design is amazing and you can live the time inside in a very fashioned way. The hall of the hotel, the restaurants, the garden and the pool look really great and you can feel the designer touch in every detail. The Blue Doot restaurant was very remarkable, I eaten the best pasta dish I ever eaten in my life. I strongly suggest you to have a nice dinner with a nice person there.

Perfectly South Beach Swanky
by RekaD
The architecture is art-deco. The lobby, restaurant, lounge and lawn have this fun, oversized "Alice in Wonderland" thing going on. The pool and bar are super swanky. While the rooms are stark-white minimalist and quite upscale. If you're looking for a quintessential South Beach hotel, the Delano is it. But be prepared to pay for it. Hotel rooms, pool-side cabanas, cocktails ... they all cost at the Delano. But all in all, it's worth it.
Walking distance to plenty of great bars and restaurants. But be sure to start or end your night at one of the Delano's bars. The outdoor pool-side bar attracts a friendly and beautiful crowd at night.
Unique Quality: Love the infinity pool. Wake up early and get pool-side asap in order to score a pool-side chaise; this is where the best people-watching happens. And don't forget to play a game of chess on the lawn. The oversized chess board, with knee-high chess pieces, requires both hands to lift the pieces.

Experience the ultra-cool atmosphere!
by Vulpster03
Of course this hotel is pricey, and it may be a bit overpriced, but you will recieve excellent service, and enjoy the very nice and interesting accomodations. The rooms are all white, and the beds are wonderful. Every room comes with complete entertainment center. Excellent food too! The outside Orchard and pool area are stunning!
Unique Quality: The atmosphere and decor of the hotel make it really stand out among other South Beach hotels. This place is very trendy, and the place was so indescribably "cool". At this hotel you are surrounded by models and at least one celebrity at all times. At night the Delano Lobby, Blue Door Restaurant, and pool area turns into a party packed with beautiful people. Security is tight at this hotel, because they demand that you show your key or Delano ID card upon entrance of the pool area from the beach. Most hotels on Miami Beach offer chase lounges on the beach, but none quite as comfortable as the Delano. The staff sets up these chase lounge in your desired location and puts fresh linnens and towels on each one.

Delano Hotel

The Delano is another popular hotel for those who like spending money or who simply want to say rhat they have stayed here. Like the Shore Club, the Delano is ridiculously expensive (during March, 2005, rooms were advertised on the hotel website for $2,000 per night. I believe they were suites, if that makes it worth it). The suites and the 1st floor cabana rooms, which are adjacent to the pool and which have a patio, are larger sized, but exorbitantly priced.
I love the pool at the Delano and the evening scene there (see nightlife tips), and I'm crazy about the sushi bar (see restaurant tips), but I can't fathom why anyone would stay here. It is in a great location, but so are numerous hotels and they do not cost as much as a used car.
If you don't stay here, you should pay this place a visit. The grounds are gorgeous, the scene is quintessentially South Beach and the sushi bar is amazing. Save your money for sushi and martinis, though, and stay elsewhere.
Unique Quality: Again, location. Also, rooms by the pool.

Place to be seen!
by royjmcclymont
The Delano is a great hangout in Miami Beach. The pool and beach area are seriously "in places" to be. Make sure you get to the pool early as it can get very busy especially on weekends.
Unique Quality: Check out the Rose Bar, it has an Alice in Wonderland feel.

BEST IN SOUTH BEACH!
by POSADA20
I just returned from a six night/seven day vacation at the spectacular Delano Hotel. First off, this place is not for penny pinchers. We stayed here over New Year's Eve so prices were almost double the already inflated prices. In addition, expect to pay 40.00 for breakfast, 60.00 for lunch and about 130.00 for dinner (for two people). Having said that, if you have saved your money for a rainy day, this is the place to throw caution to the wind and live it up. The lobby is done in soft whites and soothing browns, the pool and cabana area are breathtakingly beautiful, and the rooms are done in a very soothing and minimilist white-modern design. (Be wary of "Ocean View" rooms: we had one and it was basically a view of the parking lot next door with a speck of a view of the ocean behind it). Nevertheless, the room was so wonderful we really didn't mind too much. If you really want an ocean view, you must get a "Ocean Front"room. The waiters at the pool and the beach were supurb--anything you request will be taken care of (expect of course to tip like crazy--but it is worth it for the high level of service provided here. The restuarant is very good, but I was surpised there weren't more of them. The gift shop is purely a showpiece and offers little for the guests other than kitchy conversational pieces you might put on a coffee table--not very useful for its hotel guests. I was also surpised not to find high-end boutique shops in the hotel itself. For this, you must leave the hotel and shop on Lincoln Road or Collins Ave. Despite the Delano's world-wide reputation, it is really quite a small hotel. The benefit of its small size, however, is the extremely high level of service the hotel provides, such as maid service twice daily. Most of the staff in the hotel were extremely friendly and personable--the only attitude we encountered was at the front desk at David Barton gym and one employee at the gift shop. Other than that, everyone else was great!!
Unique Quality: The location is the best--steps off lincoln Road where you can shop and eat till your hearts content. No need to worry about being away from the Ocean Drive Scene since it is not what it once was, and if you feel like checking it out, it is a nice walk down Collins Ave. where you can do more shopping. Finally, if you have visited the Delano at night but never stayed there, don't be put off by the noise and the party-like atmosphere. During the day it is completely different: serene, peaceful, and totally relaxing. As a guest at the Delano, you will feel like royalty (and you should for the money you will shell out!!) But hey, you're worth it! Don't bother with the other hotels in Miami. They will not even come close to the Delano!!! Have fun.

Fancy and pricey
by Shaft28
The Delano is one of the premier Hotels in Miami Beach - very expensive. From the moment you walk in the door with the eclectic decor you know this place will be expensive.
My overall impression was, wow beautiful, fancy and ridiculously overpriced with a lot of non functional furniture just for the sake of being different.
I did a lot of research in the Delano and most of the reviews panned the place for being snooty and overpriced. After popping in, glad we decided on the Raliegh.
Unique Quality: Everyone also mentioned the pool area, we walked down there and saw nothing special whatsoever.
I will say the buffet at the Blue Door did rock. More on that in another section.

High Prices, Bad Attitudes, Big Mistake
by A TripAdvisor Member
My wife and I just got home from staying at the Delano Hotel in South Beach and boy was it a big mistake to choose that hotel! The room rate was over $600 dolllars a nite. That wouldn't be so bad bad the room was poorly furnished and comically small.
Our last nite there, we had dinner at the Hotel's Blue Door restaurant and like Hotel's guest rooms, the food portions we're comically small.
When the manager approached our table to ask how everthing was, my wife asked him for a Diet Coke and his response was "tell your server to getr it"
There's a lot of beautiful hotels in South Beach. The Delano needs to work on taking better care of their guests.

South Beach hotel for 4 40-year old moms!
by jpkrueger
Hi -- My girlfriends and I are all turning 40 this year (yikes!) and are planning a weekend trip to South Beach. Can anyone recommend a place to stay on the beach and close to the action? Ideally, we'd like a 1 or 2 bedroom suite so we can all stay together but not go to bed at the same time. We'd love it to be on the beach, also. Not too expensive, though, so I think a 5-star hotel is out!! Thanks in advance for your help.

Though perhaps way too expensive to stay at, but you must check out the Delano Hotel at the north end of South Beach: http://delano-hotel-miami-beach.morganshotelgroup.com
And being a woman, if you wear something revealing, you may be let into the rear section (with the super cool pool) and have some rich European guys buy you a drink or three!

Remember you are traveling at peak season - so there are not likely to be bargains. That said - there are a number of charming, smaller hotels tucked between the Deco behemoths. I think I have one or two listed in my Miami pages ... Island Records used to own four or five hotels on South Beach ... They might still - you should check out their website... And have a wild and wonderful time in Miami ... It's a terrific place ...
Peace,
Doc

Try the Bentley Hotel at 5th and Ocean. It's a condo hotel so they have small kitchens and they do have one bedrooms and some two bedrooms. The Bentley's claim to fame is that it was the hotel where Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman got into a big fight and he was arrested. Just be a bit pushy on the room, as some are better than others.
