Versaci Mansion
by Shaft28
Right on Ocean Blvd is the old Versaci mansion.
Nothing too exciting since it is privately owned and you can't see much of anything. But you can take a shot out front, or be really crass and lay down to re-enact the shooting. We did not do this, but saw some other tourists do so. Mojitos!
Suntan protection
by vanessadb
Yes I know, it is an obvious one, but seriously do not forget to bring sun protection, SPF 15 at least, and stronger expecially if you're going to stay in the sun for many hours.
The sun is extremely strong in Miami and you will get badly sunburnt if you don't protect yourself from it. Trust me, you don't want to look like all those tomato red tourists!!!
Real Estate in Miami Beach

10 Reasons to buy Real Estate in Miami Beach: 1. Like few places in the world, we have international appeal. We are the playground for wealthy Europeans and the capital of the Latin world. Sophisticated New Yorkers consider this their annual winter playground.
An institution, but not that exciting
by Shaft28 about Clevelander
The Clevelander is set up on Ocean Blvd with multiple bars around a pool with a band placed in the far back with a medium size dance floor.
All outdoors, which is nice on a warm Miami Beach night. But it lacks personality. Many tourists, like myself, so a real mixed crowd.
Drinks are expensive and poorly made. To get a good drink find one of the 8 bartenders that can mix and stick with them. Even then two top shelf margaritas will run you $22.50 - in very small plastic cups.
Dancing is left mostly to the drunk and the older 40-55 something crowd. Music is pretty general to appeal to the widest amount of people walking by on the strip.
Usually packed, and all the seats taken.
Some ok people watching, but distinctly 50 year olds and 21 year olds - 95% tourists. All over the place. Saw guys in shorts, t shirts, and most in jeans. We were overdressed here, but not the only ones.
Miami Airport Transportation
by NJFamily
I made my way down to Miami beach by bus (The J line) which costs $1.25, plus an additional $.25 for a transfer which will let you change to any other bus up or down the length of the beach.
Advantages: 1) Got to see the longest contiguous collection of used car dealers I've ever seen in my life, 2) Met a charming fellow (who happened to be on the same plane as me from Newark) from Hawaii who had traveled about 15 hours straight to surprise his daughter for her 16th birthday
Disadvantages: 1) Had to wait 20 minutes for the bus, 2) If you've seen one used car dealer, you've seen them all.
On the other hand, I returned from the northern tip of Miami by Taxi:
Advantages: Met this most charming and pleasant Cuban refugee driver who not only took me to visit my friend, but came back 2 hours later to take me to the airport.
Disadvantage: $55 ($45 is the official fixed price rate to/from the airport, and in this case I probably tipped too little).
