More about Nassau Suites Hotel
Good hotel at a good price!
We stayed at the Nassau Suites Hotel in South Beach in a studio room for a few days on return from the Caribbean. We chose the hotel for it's proximity to shopping/restaurants and of course, the famous Miami Beach. Well we were not disappointed.
The hotel is a very cute, well maintained boutique hotel in the heart of South Beach. It is in the middle of fabulous shopping and eating, and is only two blocks from Lincoln Road pedestrian mall (not to be missed!) and one block from the beach.
Overall the hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful in helping us plan our activities. The continental breakfast each morning was great!
I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to be close to restaurants, shopping and nightlife in South Beach. The hotel was reasonably priced and very well decorated. It was a treat and I will definitely stay there again!
This hotel is great value for money for Miami Beach standards. We were very impressed with our room which had a huge bedroom with walking wardrobe, a nice clean kitchen and a sitting area. The bed and the TV were absolutely huge.
Staff are helpful and cheerful, but there seem to be only one member of staff at the time, so do not expect too much from them.
Breakfast is included. It is simple but adequate (coffee, toast, muffins, etc). Towels and chairs for the beach are also complementary.
Collins Av is not the busier and noisier Av of South Beach. However you do wake up a few time during the nights. Windows are very thin and you can hear anything happening in the street (eg. cars with loud music stopping an the traffic lights outside the hotel). Saying that, I must said that we got used to after a while. Beside, I am sure that you are not after a relaxing holiday if you chose South Beach as your destination.
Overall we were very please with the hotel. I am not sure if I will be back to Miami, if I do I will probably stay at the Nassau Suite again.
I can't say enough good things about his hotel
We booked our stay directly through the hotel for a business trip. I was able to get a fantastic rate by booking multiple rooms...all of which were in great condition, clean, (almost immaculate) and good sized.
Parking on location at a reasonable fee. Location is great - close to Ocean Drive and Lincoln Rd.
I have stayed at many hotels in the South Beach area and this one is one of the best. Don't expect too many amenities like beachfront property, a pool or restaurant but in my opinion it is one of the best stays in South Beach.
DO NOT book reservations via internet sites if you need a specific room type. . . . we had to be garaunteed a double room and in order to be garaunteed that room it HAS to be booked DIRECTLY through the hotel.
The only problem we encountered was one person in particular at the front desk but when we were firm and adamant we got what we wanted. I had a great experience with one other member of the staff who was willing to go above and beyond my expectations on EVERY occasion.
Wow, value for money $$$$
My friend booked through the hotel website from the UK. We were weary of some of the previous comments made here. It just shows you shouldn't always listen to those!
The hotel is very clean, modern and has free wifi access as well as a PC in the basement with internet access. It is very close to the beach, Ocean Dr and Lincoln Rd. All very easy walking.
They have a parking lot for $16 a day which isn't bad. They provide continental breakfast incl. in the price which is rare to find.
The rooms were clean and immaculate. They have all the modern conveniences, oven, large fridge freezer, telephone, plenty of storage spaces. It was probably one of the largest rooms I have stayed in ever.
Lilly the morning receptionist is great. Very organised and very friendly. She always more than willing to help you.
The only slight downside is I would not choose a ground floor room because you may hear the music playing in reception. Otherwise it's very quiet.
Overall good value
This art deco style hotel is conveniently located on Collins Ave., just a short walk to the beach as well as to shops and restaurants. My contemporary-style room was clean and spacious with hardwood floors, full kitchen amenities, walk-in closet, air conditioning, and even a plasma TV. The front desk staff was also friendly and helpful. The only downside I can think of is that, since our room was located towards the front of the hotel, one could hear more people and car traffic within the hotel and neighborhood. Overall though, I had a positive experience here.
My girlfriend and I were looking for a Hotel in Miami with included kitchen/kitchenett, because we don't consider reasonable paying $$$ for dining out and not eating well, when there's a choice of passing by a Publix (of course in a car, because there are not good groceries stores near the hotel), and having all you want for Breakfast or Dinner. Looking for this on TripAdvisor, we found this hotel and made the reservations directly with the property. Our experience there was very good, the room was spacious and very clean. Lilly at the front desk is very friendly. Our only complain, is that some kind of remodelations are being done on the second floor, and the works starts at 10AM (even Sundays!), so don't even think in trying to stay at bed after that hour. Finally, my girlfriend ask me to write that there's also a guy at the front desk, that should receive more "client attention" classes.
"Dirty Sheets and No Apology"
I stayed at the Nassau hotel in South Beach the first week of November. I had read reviews about how nice the hotel was. I had also read that the day front-desk attendant was helpful—I found this to not be true.
1) The first night I went to pull back the sheets and was greeted by STRANDS OF HAIR and a BLOOD STAIN. As you can imagine I was shocked!! There were other things such as a dirty refrigerator, only two towels (no washcloths) and a shower that didn’t work properly… but a NASTY bed was enough.
2) Right away I called the front desk to make the person aware of my findings and was told there was NOTHING that could be done because the house keeping staff was gone for the day. What?! I was expected to sleep in a DIRTY bed?!
3) I finally convinced the person to bring king sheets to the room (he admitted to being new) and was presented queen sheets instead. Forty-Five minutes (he was the only person on duty) and two attempts later, I tried to make it work with two king flat sheets. Yes, I had to MAKE MY OWN BED with sheets I hoped wouldn’t slide off during the night. Did I mention that I was on vacation?
4) After bringing the situation to day front-desk attendant’s attention the next day, she INSULTED me by asking one of the house-keepers to bring the sheet to the front-desk so that she could inspect it. What?! The desk attendant and this woman began inspecting the sheet, at the FRONT DESK, while speaking in Spanish. Apparently they thought I was LYING and didn’t speak Spanish at all. I surely thought that I was on television show and someone was going to come out and tell me that I had been “PUNKED!” The situation was getting worse by the minute. I was treated rudely and received NO apology. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told he would not be in until the next day.
5) As I checked out of the hotel I asked to speak to the manager AGAIN. I was told that he was running errands and wouldn’t be in until noon. Needing to catch a flight I asked to have him call me on my cell phone. I received NO response. A couple of days later I left a message on the manager’s voicemail. Three weeks later… NOTHING!
6) We all can make our own judgments about a hotel and the level of service that is provided. I DO NOT suggest staying at the Nassau Hotel in South Beach!
Very nice hotel, nice location near beach and shopping... We had a great stay there with my mother, in a studio. The 1st day the air conditioning was not working but the next day it was repaired. The staff is very nice. The only complain is the very poor breakfast... but as there was a kitchen in the studio we finally ate in our lodging.
Lots of qualifiers for this hotel
We booked two one bedroom suites at the Nassau, one for us and one for our daughter and her husband. Be aware that all one bedroom suites face onto Collins Ave. and they are very noisy until about 4AM every night. Our unit was quite a bit smaller than our daughter's even though we were paying the same price. Our unit was quite hot (they had made it so you couldn't get the AC much lower than 80). At night it suffered from very little good lighting, expecially where you put on your makeup. On our second night, most of the lights in our suite, the tv, and the wifi kept going off and on until they finally stayed off. We went down to the front desk to complain (this was at 9PM) and there was absolutely no one around. Looked all over, called repeatedly and there just wasn't anyone there. Next morning we complained. They said they would fix it but later told us they couldn't find anyting wrong. We said we wanted to move since we didn't want to wind up sitting in the dark again. They said they would move us to a studio (much smaller) but they were still going to charge the same rate as the one bedroom. We said we would check out and go to another hotel. Their guy was very unhelpful and said he would have to "check" with someone. We said one way or the other we would be in a different room - theirs or someone elses. They finally agreed to move us to another one bedroom just below our previous one. This unit was ok.
They feeling you get is that everything is done on the cheap - they really don't want to use electricity!! We definitely wouldn't stay there again.
Best kept secret!
My three friends and I stayed here January 12-15, 2007 and had an absolutely wonderful time. The room was great, just as described. Very clean and contemporary. We had the full size refrigerator, stove, microwave, full set of dishes. The bathroom was really cute, with the bowl sink. We had 2 queen beds to accomodate 4 people. The room was spacious enough for us.
The staff was wonderful. Lilly was a gem when we checked in. The other hotel staff was extremely helpful for the duration of the trip. The lobby was very cute & modern & loved the music they played the various times of day.
It was really great to be in a convenient location and having dedicated parking (without the valet waiting). We were so close to the beach and shopping, really great location. We didn't hear much noise considering the proximity to the busy street. Other pluses of the hotel were the computers in the basement w/internet connection and the free beach towels & chairs.
A couple of negative things we encountered were minor, but if fixed could make the hotel even better. The continental breakfast was lousy. Just muffins, bagels, toast coffee & juice. They could easily add fresh fruit and yogurt or cereal for those that are more health conscious. There was no clock or radio in the room. The only mirror in the room was in the bathroom, and for a bunch of women that was pretty detrimental. Finally, we noticed that under the beds hadn't been dusted or mopped in a while - quite a few dustballs under there.
But our overall experience with the hotel was still excellent, and those minor things didn't affect our stay at all. In fact we made those recommendations to the staff and perhaps they will make some changes for future guests to enjoy. So in a nutshell it's a cute contemporary hotel, in a really hot location with extremely friendly and helpful staff -- all at a decent rate.
We will definitely stay there again if we're in Miami Beach and we definitely recommend others to stay at this hotel.
