Amtrak Station to Miami Beach

by lexie_2388

I am travelling to Miami from Orlando by train and wondering the cheapest way to get to my hotel on Miami Beach. Does anyone know the distance and a good way for me>

Do you know exactly which station would you be getting off? do you know the location of the hotel in Miami Beach?
taking the longest possibility, the easiest way to get to your hotel would be
a: take a taxi from the amtrak station to the hotel, around 40 usd.
b: if you are travelling by yourself, it may be cheaper to take the supershuttle but then again you have to be getting off at the station near the airport and then getting over to the airport. If you are more than one person and if you have luggage, the best way without doubt is taking a taxi.

You could try the bus.( Iwouldn't) There will be one there when you get off the train and the driver will tell you where to change busses.
The best way will be a cab. There will be a line of cabs waiting outside the door of the station.
The metro rail station is a few blocks away. You could take a train to downtown and a cab from downtown to save a few dollars.

Travel Tips for Miami Beach

Sand Castle's in the Sky

by Hexepatty

The guy who makes these sand castles is Victor Leong. Here, from his website at miamibeachsandcastle.com My name is Victor Leong, I have been building sandcastles professionally since 1992. At first the castles were small, but now they are over 12 feet high by 60 feet wide. My main castle is protected by guards when I'm not there. I can usually be seen sculpting on weekend nights in the heart of Miami Beach on 9th Street & Ocean Drive. Stop by if you have a chance. Please check out the photo galleries on this site; more pictures will be added soon.

I also make castles for corporate events, birthday parties, weddings, & other special occasions. For more info, please call or write.

Don't forget the film

by HotSpotJ

Take whatever you need for the duration of your stay. Remember, if you're down here for shopping, you might buy the clothes you wear out while you're here. Nice sandals and some shorts are a must, if you're on a budget, bring your dress clothes with you, if not buy them here. toothpaste, toothbrush, condoms... all of the essentials Bring the good colognes as well. If you don't use a digital camera, remember to bring your film!! It will cost you 5x what you pay inland! If you do have to buy film, there is a Walgreens on the 1st block of Lincoln sunscreen! Call ahead to make sure the hotel has an iron. Going out all wrinkeld up sucks.

EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK

by Helga67

Gator-spotting is one of the main attractions of the Everglades National Park, the second largest national park in the USA, with its 6070 sq kilometres of marshes, mangrove forests, freshwater and saltwater areas and open grass prairies. This vast subtropical wilderness is home to an abundance of rare plants, birds and animals, including wild orchids, Florida panthers, ospreys, manatees, giant loggerhead turtles, the Everglades mink, the Florida black bear and the only saltwater crocodiles in America.
There are several entry points each with visitor centres that organise ranger-led walks and talks, boat and tram tours, and canoe trails. The main Visitor Center is just southwest of Homestead
Unfortunately, we were not so lucky to see this great alligators, the day we were there, there was not much to see at all. Actually we were very disappointed. I guess it wasn't the right season. This is why I cannot show you a beautiful picture.

Steamy Miami Nights

by aycha about Opium Garden / Prive

Very recommended. The main room of this club is its open air courtyard where you can enjoy the humid Miami nights with some awesome music. If it gets too steamy for you there are other rooms that are air conditioned. One of these rooms is club Prive (their VIP room with separate entrance) but the space is too cramped and the vibe is never as good as the main room. The decor is pleasing, plenty of bars to accomodate you, plus you can smoke since it is technically outdoors. Trendy

Miami Beach Tip

by Weener

Miami nightlife is buzzing. If this is the reason for you going to Miami, my suggestion would be to go during the Winter Music Conference held every year, normally the end of March. This is when all the top DJs worldwide (particularly UK DJs) come over to play the latest tunes for the year, so lots of guest DJs playing in the top clubs. If you miss this the conference, as I did, it doesn’t matter because Miami is great all year through. Be warned that the drinks are pricey in Miami.
