MIAMI BEACH SPRING BREAK

by robertskrobin

A friend of a friend has an apartment we can stay at in Miami Beach for spring break. I have never been to Miami/Miami Beach and am a little concerned about safety. What general spots in Miami Beach should I try to avoid? What beaches are more recommended than others? Thank you very much for your help.

Miami Beach is safe anywhere!

Re: MIAMI BEACH SPRING BREAK

by GUYON

I confirm : Miami Beach is save anywhere. As foreign tourists, we are targeted by the thieves but we had any concern the 4 times we went in Sobe. The police watches : it would be an economic disaster if the newspapers told a tourist was attacked.
It is not the same in the mainland, at Miami. The Bayside Market, for example, is full of pickpockets.
Have a pleasant stay

If you're on a vistors visa, as far as I know you cannot stay longer than 3 months. I think it's possible to extend your visa, but you have to do it in advance and I'm not sure about all the details. Run a search in google.com and see if you can find anything. Good luck!

Travel Tips for Miami Beach

Miami Beach's Old City Hall

by Ewingjr98

Miami Beach City Hall was constructed in the 1930s in the Mediterranean Revival architectural style. Located on Washington Avenue, this historic structure was renovated in 2006. The building stands nine stories tall and is part of the National Historic District. The building houses government offices and a County courtroom. The real estate developer who created this facility was also part of the group that created the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The Old City Hall is located at 1130 Washington Ave. City Hall was moved to another location in the 1970s.

Old Tavern w/ live music

by vanessadb

Bougainvillea is an old tavern in South Miami, near Sunset Place. Small, cozy, charming and a very laidback hang-out, it also has great live jazz bands. Latin jazz, brazilian jazz, ALL types of jazz. Check their music schedule on their website....

You won't find more local than this!

THE place to start your night on South Beach

by universalgypsy about Segafredo

Segafredo is a great little bar / Cafe that has a great selection of delicious cocktails. You can order lovely Paninis here as well, so don't shy away from eating here just because it is more like a bar. It is situated right at the beginning of Lincoln Rd. which is the best place to people watch on Sobe. The music played is house with a slight latin touch, the crowd is very mixed but with a slant towards "the beautiful"! Sit here and watch the world go by! This place is outdoors so there is no way to really be refused a table. No dress code.

The Marlin Bar

by Weener about The Marlin Bar

Sophisticated hotel bar with a DJ playing R&B and house music. Friday R&B night seemed quite popular. Chrome interior with oriental style sofas and cushion chill out room at the back. Great for people watching!
