Quiet boutique hotel in the center of South Beach

    by

We were really happy with our decision to stay at Palmer House. The central location gave us a great base from which to explore Miami's South Beach. But we were still able to sleep without noise from the outside even though we went to bed relatively early on a Saturday night in South Beach (midnight). The hotel has brand new rooms, with great controllable lighting and comfortable beds.

    Two downsides:
    1. You can hear some noise from the hallways and the other rooms. It wasn't bad, but it seemed like you were much better insulated from the outside noise of South Beach than from noise inside the hotel.
    2. The rooms are in the modern hotel style, where the showers and bathroom are behind a transparent glass door visible from the bed -- so you and your travelling companion have to be comfortable with that arrangement. It's possible one of the knobs or controls made the bathroom opaque -- there were certainly a ton of controls.

Unique Quality: This hotel doesn't have a spectacular view, it's greatest asset is its central location within South Beach, the comfort of the brand new rooms, and the quiet environment.

I don't know the prices..but have been to Nassau, Bahamas several times. It is worth a day trip. It is easy to walk around..you have some things to look at..Queen's Staircase, Fort Fincastle, The Ardastra Gardens. There are lots of interesting shops in the Port as well as interesting restaurants.

South Beach will keep you interested as well...lots to see there.

Enjoy your trip!

Running via beach

by Scandic

It's so chlise, but you have to try this while visiting in Miami. Feel sporty and but your Nike's on, then just go in early 6-7a.m. to jog along beach boulevard. It's really memoriable right now, when here in Finland is -30 degrees.

Venetian Pools at Coral Gables

by mannymiami

The Venetian Pools located in Coral Gables is a perfect example of Tropical Deco. This beautiful pool was built in the 1920's. The water thats used in this pool comes from an underground spring, therfore its very cold, great way to cool off from that hot humid steamy Miami heat. Mac's Club Deuce Bar Miami Beach

by ak47uk about Deuce Bar

The Deuce Bar is where all the locals go to play pool and listen to the juke box that has been there since the place was built, it is reputed to be one of the oldest bars in Miami Beach. They do a happy hour with 2 for the price of 1 on any alcohol or soft drink. A great bar that dosn't liven up until around midnight. It opens at 8am until 5am.

Miami International Airport

by GUYON

We went 5 times to Miami. The firsty time (2002) by a one stop flight of Swiss via Zurich. The price was rather fair : 420 euros / capita but the journey lasted 13:30.
We prefered to fly with Air France (when it is not on strike - silly trick !) because the flight are "non stop", the arrival is at the beginnig of the afternoon when the plane is not late and the departure is in the evening the last day with a early arrival at CDG. In December 2008, the ticket price was 720 euros tax included.
The next time I will study the AA flights which are also non stop.

Unfortunately, the waiting at the border police is often long. But 1:30 hour of waiting at the Miami airport : look at the photo, Monique was not happy. A lot of passengers went from South America and they had to show a return ticket. So, there were discussions with the police and consequential delay.
Somebody told me to stand in the file which is just right the American one because the domestic clerk accepts the foreigners when he has finished with the American travellers. I was anable to check if the advice was right because, at our last trip, there were few people waiting at the border police.
