Art Deco
by sue_stone
Miami Beach, in particular the South Beach area, is famous for its fabulous Art Deco architecture. The district is covered in deco hotel after deco hotel. If you are a fan of the genre like me, then you won't be disappointed!
Curved walls, neon signs, canopy porches and the like are everywhere.
We spent a lot of time photographing buildings on Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue, trying to capture the perfect blue sky shots and then night time ones with the fabulous neon signage. Some buildings to check out are: the Miami Beach Post Office (1300 Washington Avenue); Jerry's Famous Deli (1450 Collins Avenue); The Leslie Hotel (1244 Ocean Drive); and The Carlyle Hotel (826 Ocean Drive).
Pop into the Art Deco Welcome Centre at 1001 Ocean Drive to find out a little more about the Art Deco district and pick up the obligatory souvenirs. If you are interested you can book in to participate in a walking tour from here.

Take a walk along Lincoln Road...
by Weener
Take a walk along Lincoln Road (its a very long road) Very touristy, with a great choice of restaurants, but a little pricey. Nice to wander through in the evening. A cinema is just at the end showing all the latest blockbusters. Nice conveyor belt sushi place just by the cinema, quite good value aswell. There is a restaurant called Nexxt in Lincoln Road. Its always very popular. The portions are MASSIVE! A bit expensive though.
Versace House
by Dutchnatasja
"Here in Miami, I've finally found what I was looking for: the center of my circle. I want to stay here and live out my time...forever." -Gianni Versace-
Gianni Versace purchased the building
in 1992 for $2.9 million. At 8:45am, on July 15th, 1997, Gianni Versace was returning home from a short walk to the News Café, where he purchased magazines. He walked up the steps to the front gate, he put the key in and was about to turn it, when Andrew Cunanan approached him. Versace was shot twice - once, point blank in the center of his face, the other in his neck. He fell to the steps, and landed on his right side. Today Peter Loftin is the owner of Casa Casuarina. He purchased the house from the Versace Estate in September 200, for approximately $19 million and has resided there from time to time.
It’s been several years ago of the passing of Gianni Versace, and as the years go on, less attention will be focused on his life and accomplishments. Sadly, Versace's contribution of style and glamour to our society will one day become nothing more than a footnote in fashion history. Such is the way of the world.
My shoe hookup
by HotSpotJ about Kenneth Cole
I am addicted to Kenneth Cole dress shoes. I have never been dissappointed, they always seem to match my outfit, are never more than 200 and seem to sit South Beach style in a str8 mans lap. Shirts and shoes are nice How much do you expect to buy? 100-200 for a nice pair of shoes, 75-125 for a nice shirt
Jazz lounge
by vanessadb about Jazid
Jazzid consists of a lounge with live music downstairs, some type of jazz, and an upstairs lounge with a pool table and couches.
I especially recommend Jazid every last Wednesday of the month, when their brazilian party is going on: live brazilian jazz to which your hips will move by themselves, even if you DON"T know how dance to it. Dress code is pretty open, as long as you have long pants if you're a man
