More about Sasson Hotel Ocean Resort

My stay at The Setai was flawless

by TripAdvisor Member TomRiley

I don't agree with the prior complaints regarding the hotel staff and patrons. I found the entire experience to be everything I was looking for plus more. I stayed in a corner junior-suite, room 511, which had a perfect ocean and courtyard view (the courtyard is the area around the reflecting pool just off the lobby bar where the socialites and celebrities mingle) and it was much larger than the rooms I've stayed at next door at the Shore Club or the Delano. The room and the entire hotel is elegant through and through, with a sophisticated southeast-Asian theme. The beachfront service was amazing and its obvious when you peak down the shoreline at the other hotel's beach amenities that this is the finest in South Beach. Everything from the teak loungers to the umbrellas and serving trays delivered with Evian spritzers (an aerosol can of Evian water vapor) and frozen rolled up towels to cool down are of the utmost quality, complimented by a speedy and courteous staff. I shouldn’t forget to mention that there were beautiful people everywhere I looked, the type of environment that South Beach is famous for.

I imagine this hotel will end up being a timeless classic and I will definitely visit again.

Quiet Luxury

by TripAdvisor Member lelebash

The Setai is conveniently in the middle of all the action at South Beach but offers a quiet retreat when all the other scenes get to be too much. The service is excellent and the rooms are simple and elegant. The spa is fantastic!

disappointed

you could do a lot better for the money than the setai. Service was very spotty, often indifferent, could not get hot water in the room for 10 minutes our entire stay, then couldn't adjust the temperature for 10 more minutes, awful. The food is good, nice pool. The hotel is expensive, needs better management, not a good value. Room keys were a pain- they worked on and off, too many hassles, way too many.

Great, don't be put off

Just got back fromt the Setai.

I loved the design of the hotel and the room was first rate, but we did upgrade.

Have read the other reviews and can sympathis with some of their views. But don't forget that this is Miami, it's a pretentious place and it's all about looking good, so maybe the staff aren't great at the pool (it's 90 in the shade by the way so I'd be less than chirpy!) but we found the rest of the staff to be very good.

The pool however is a big problem and were very surprised by the frat groups there, we thought the cost of the hotel would put them off but found out that they weren't staying there which was odd.. however there were many who were staying there.

Those who complain about the Setai seem to spend too much time there, anyone with any sense wouldn't go near the resturant. Use the hotel as a nice place to sleep and then go out and enjoy the town. The guy who mentioned Joes stone crab resturant had the right idea, go out and eat very very well at good prices.

Its design is hip and modern so don't go if you want home town style and lace curtains, it's chic and sharp.

South Glamours hotel

Walking through the lobby , I was amazed how pretty the hotel was. It has a very open feel to it with warn asian decor that breathes a peaceful romantic setting with lots of beautiful rose flower arrangements throughout the hotel. The Setai has many little sitting areas and as you walk through , where you could have drinks at night or just sit and gaze at the stars. I was so happy dogs where also welcomed.

When I entered the room is was beautiful . It was studio suite, with a separate bath, living area and bedroom. Again with an asian feel, warm woods, lots of mood setting lighting to make the room romantic at the touch of a button. In the bathroom there are two vessel sinks and a wonderful deep soaking tub. I also loved the separate makeup area . The beds where comfortable. The pillow cases could of been a little softer, but the bedding was very crisp and clean. I had only a few negatives. The water in the shower didn't stay warm for a long time and it was challenge to get it to heat up. I had to call down to have them fix the problem , but they responded very quickly and did fix the problem. Just remember if you stay at this hotel turn the shower knob to the left all the way and wait 5 min. or you will have a cold shower. The other helpful tip , If you use the dvd or cd player and it doesn't play , unplug the bose home theater unit and then plug it back in and your cd and dvd will then work. But if you have a problem with it the electrician comes very quickly to help.

The food at The Restaurant in the hotel was really great it is asian fusion with influences from Indian and French cuisine. I would recommend eating there over Nobu. They had a fun light dance music night in the sitting area on Tues. night. Very romantic setting outside with many comfortable and secluded sitting areas very SOBE and very sexy and romantic. My miami stay was so wonderful.
