Great South Beach suites

by universalgypsy about Hideaway Suites

This place is tucked away in the middle of Collins Ave, i.e. in the middle of it all!! Across the road you can shop at Armani Exchange, around the corner you can drink yourself silly at Wet willies, you can stroll to the beach in 5 minutes, whatever your fancy you can get to it from here. These suites have it all, a fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and dryer, bathtub and even a little dining table to eat your own cooked breakfast on. On top of it all they are incredibly cheap and will give discounts for stays of over a week. There is no view and there is no pool. Since the Ocean is just around the corner though this shouldn't be an issue. This is a place to come to sleep when you've overloaded your senses on Ocean Drive ( also just around the corner).

The Dorchester Hotel & Suites South Beach 1850 Collins Ave.

by Hayes

Hi all
Does anybody know of this hotel. We booked to stay here but I have found a few reviews that are not too complimentary and am getting a bit worried.
Still have time to cancel if the need arises. Cost about $107 per night each.

This location is very good. remember that you are across the street from the beach, beachfront cost atleast $50-75/night more. I do not believe that any of the restored building are wonderful unless you are staying at a very very expensive hotel(ie Ritz). I have a very simple routine with sobe hotels. Check in when they allow usually 4pm, after going to your room check on toilets.towels, TV and AC and resolve any issues immediately before the hotel can tell you they have no other rooms. This may sound very simple, but you will be amazed at the
answers and excuses you receive from sobe hotels. Remember that these hotels cater to partiers who may use the room for a minimal amount of time. I went to a sobe hotel 2 days before christmas and the hotel next door had an outdoor party going until 2am with a LIVE band. Sobe is a different experience than most
places. Have fun

Travel Tips for Miami Beach

Miccosukee!

by Ewingjr98

Miccosukee Indians, maybe better spelled Mikasuki, since the official name looks too much like Suckee Suckee, which I believe is an Asian tribe. The tribe originated in Georgia before migrating to the Carolinas, then Alabama, before ending up in Florida. They were long part of the Seminole Tribe until 1962 when they were recognized as a separate tribe.

Today the Miccosukee, like many other Indian tribes in the US, are most famous for their gambling casinos. Their casinos make so much money this tribe sponsors NASCAR teams, PGA tournaments, and the Miami Dolphins. Woohoo, penny slots!

Shopping for Ferni's shirt

by Gypsystravels about Men's Clothing Store

Ferni was in search of a fabulous trendy shirt for the heat in Miami Beach and we found exactly what we were looking for.

The shop has so many wonderful shirts to choose from. From short sleeve to long sleeve, trendy t-shirts, dress shirts (like the one Ferni got), slacks, jeans and all sorts of accessories, it was like heaven for my babe. A Fabulous shirt for my babe. The shirt is a light linen with a cut out design which makes it a perfect shirt for the heat in Miami Beach.

Will be back with store information Ferni shirt was about $89 on sale, but there were plenty of other shirts ranging from $59-$129. Jeans were about $89 and up and the dress slacks started at $129 and up.

The accesories ranged from trendy bracelets, chains and rings which all started at about $15 and up.

If you are visiting Miami...

If you are visiting Miami Beach and you have a cell phone capable of receiving text messages, you should visit WWW.sobespots.com and sign-up for free invitations to all the South Beach Clubs. It is free and you and your guests will be notiifed of the latests club happenings in South Beach. SOBESPOST members even have special entrances so you do not have to wait on queue at the door. You will be treated like a VIP. It works this way: When a club has a special DJ or event, or just wants to invite their memebers to come to the club for free, they will send a text message to your cell phone with the club name and a password. You just flash the password at the door of the club and voila! you and your guests are in for free. Happy clubbing.

Not real efficient

by balisunshine

The bus transportation in Miami
has little to boast
compared to the ones in Europe.

You may wind up transfering
more than once
on very long routes.

The only efficient routes
are the ones that cross the
Miami Downtown-South Beach-Adventura.

There are several lines that
run infront of Bayside onto
Washington Avenue
going up Collins Avenue
and stopping at
the shopping mall of Adventura.

Make sure that you have in change
the exact bus fare of $1.25.
$1 bills are exepted.
All change, except pennies are accepted.

You must load onto the bus at
the designated bus stops.

If you are unaccostomed to
the air conditioning
bring a sweater,
it gets chilly in there.
