Accommodation

by wadoboy

I am travelling to miami (from England) for a spring/easter break in march for 4 days. I have been searching the internet for reasonable priced hotels for around $600 for 4 nights or approx $150 a night but everything I seem to find all have horrendous/horrible reviews on tripadvisor. Can anyone give me some help with finding something OK either in south beach or miami beach area or do I take it that all budget/cheap hotels are really BAD in miami?. Any help much appreciated.

You can try this budget hotel for the rent of 60$ a night at NE216 by name MIAMI SUN HOTEL 5m closer to Miami Beach connected by frequent Bus services.
Land mark: American Airlines Corp Office. opp to College Mono Rail station. This hotel or location is not that bad as you think in all respects. Enjoy.

I usually stay at the Day's Inn - it's on 20th or 21st. It's reasonable, clean, right on the beach, and not a bad walk from lots of restaurants and South Beach. It ain't the ritz, but it's not too expensive. Sometimes I splurge and get a balcony room overlooking the beach - pretty great.

You will need to specify where you want to stay, Miami,Miami Beach and South Beach are totally different. If you want the "experience" you want South Beach(SoBe). Be prepared for hotels that cater to party goers, if you prepaid on the internet the hotel has your money and you are not getting it back under any circumstance. I booked on the internet and was given a room with no AC and a hole in the window and was told this is what you get for an internet booking. Pay a little more for a hotel and you may luck out. Try the National,Raleigh,or if you afford the Loews all in SoBe. I would definitely try to stay in SoBe. Yes, the hotels can be that bad, remember who they are catering to. If you want a better hotel try miami beach and take a cab to SoBe it is very close. Also, everything in this area is relatively expensive, Lodging, food transportation. Have a "B" plan such as eating Cuban. Great food and reasonable. Great restaurant across from the National on Collins Ave. Also avoid staying on Ocean Dr. The street is very busy until the wee hours of the AM. Remember SoBe is party time universe. Have Fun

Travel Tips for Miami Beach

Bayside Market

by GUYON

An out door mall (nethertheless, covered) with plenty of shops and restaurants.

You can be pictured with a parrot or with a snke. The Hard Rock cafe is here.

The prices are expensive and the food is average.

There are some street musicians and some pickpocketers (one of them want to steal in my pocket the instruction brochure of my camera. May be a beginner...).

Packing List

by seamandrew

When packing be sure to include the following. They are a must!
Sunscreen
Bathing suit
shorts
umbrella

The last is very important since Miiami Beach gets a lot of rain. Be sure to bring some insect repellent too. Lots of mosquitos. Include a polarizing lens for your camera. The suns glare on the sea can ruin many a picture.

Place an 'Aerial Ad'. Tell your 'Honey' how much you love her/him with big flying letters up in the sky where everyone can see it. Propose to her/him, how can she/he refuse you after that? These ads are pulled behind an airplane up and down Miami Beach. They do six circles, so you get to see your ad six times, and you can have up to 55 letters and numbers. As of today these ads are priced at $315.00. Air Ads can be reached at 1-877-447-2678. Talk to Melinda.

Live music, great people

by agarcia about Tobacco Road

Tobacco Road is a huge bar, located at Miami downtown. It has the typical American Bar atmosphere, with live music, TV sets, and people drinking and having fun all night long. Just remember not to pay attention to the gambling machine at the end of the bar. You could easily spend the night playing card games, while laughing out laud with the jokes of the Puerto Rican folks ;-) Dressy or casual; It doesn’t matter.

Getting to South Beach from Miami Airport

by chrissyalex

There are several options to get to South Beach from the airport. The least expensive is the bus, but it also takes the longest and if you have alot of luggage, it can be cumbersome.,but it should probably only cost you a $1.50. The Clay Hotel website. www.clayhotel.com has the directions to do this.
There is the Supershuttle . It will cost $13 per person. www.supershuttle.com
I took a cab. The set fare to South Beach from the airport is $24 but this works out cheaper than the Supershuttle if there is more than one person traveling.
