Back in Sep. 2007 we stayed in Miami Beach at San Juan Hotel on Collins Ave. right off of 17th St, next block south is Lincoln Rd. We were only there 2 nights to check out South Beach before a cruise.
Its a budget hotel so nothing special. For the location in South Beach it was a good deal. If you're looking for something nicer then I'd look elsewhere but this place is right around the corner from where you're looking for.
Hope this helps paisano! Here is the website:

Travel Tips for Miami Beach
Bring a lot of cash to South Beach
by HotRodEtte
The restaurants are to die for, the clubbing and nightlife are like no other, the shopping is amazing, and the strip is a great place to people watch. But it all comes with a high price. South Beach is very expensive, as it caters to the rich and famous from all over the world. Make sure to bring a bundle of dough when visiting!!! Of all the trips my best friend and I took together, this had to be both our favorite. There was nothing like it. The beach, the hotel, the food, the pool, the shopping, the bars...I couldn't complain about anything--even the prices! It was all worth it. We even met another group of people at our hotel that were visitng from detroit! We all ended up on the same plane coming home, it was great!
Free Internet at the library
by GUYON
We stayd at the Holiday Inn South Beach which had an expensive and very slow internet access in the lobby for people who had not there own computer. But just in front of the hotel, there was the library (227 22nd Street) which provided a free internet access.
The clerk gave me code for half an hour and told me it was possible to have an other free access if nobody needded the computer.
The library is open :
9AM to 9PM
Except : Fri Sat : 6PM and Sun 1PM to 6PM
Leaving it all behind (including your clothes)
by adonis1969
There's no doubt that most people don't come to Miami intending to strut around naked in public, but that's before they come to Haulover Beach Park. It's a very nice beach all around, but the northern part also happens to be (very) clothing optional.
It's a unique cultural experience that you shouldn't miss -- a nice weekend day will bring out crowds well in excess of 1,000 happily nude people of all shapes, sizes, ages and genders. And hey, you don't know any of these people, so why not join them? Once you've gotten out of your clothes, you'll wonder why you didn't think of it sooner. And you'll have a great vacation story to tell (or keep to yourself!).
Visit his old house, buy a new shirt
by HotSpotJ about Versace
Trendy isn't even the word. Versace was in a world of his own, and his clothes still are. For me its either a love it or hate it with the Versace lines, and if I'm down here on a budget if I love the way it looks I hate the price it has tagged on it. Even then, I'll still go in here just to look around Expect to spend at least 125 a shirt, 125 pants, 150 shoes. That is bottom line, average is much more
Sundays at the Beach
by goingsolo about Nikki Beach Club
Nikki Beach Club, currently one of the popular places to be, is a good place to go for Friday Happy Hour or the Sunday afternoon beach party and a good place to wait in line on Saturday night dress up on Fridays, down on Sundays
