Bad Rooms
by TripAdvisor Member jabstair
We stayed at The Edgewater in Oct 2004. We stayed under the "discover Naples" rate. Please be aware that this will be the worst possible room availble location wise. The room itself was beautiful no complaints. The location was behind the parking garage, and above the maid quarters. The room was LOUD and dark. The hotel staff was nice and friendly and looking for a tip OFTEN. They did try to move us when we complained, however they really didnt have a better room available.
Simply wonderful!

We just returned from the best vacation we could have asked for! The hotel is very well taken care of and the rooms are brand new and beautiful. I don't know where the last people stayed but oh well. The staff is out of this world making sure that everything you want is there for the asking. Deb and Wendy are extremely helpful with anything you need (Deb got us a cab in 5 minutes when none could be had). The beach crew Russell, Sean & Kevin were positively terrific making sure we had our spot all set up first thing in the morning complete with towels. There was a beautiful wedding on Saturday and it was fun watching the set up in the courtyard from our balcony. The little market had really yummy treats along with a very pleasant sales staff, try the blondies they were a favorite of my husband. Thanks again for such fun and anyone who has any questions can contact me. jane.renda@mbna.com
Great Location!

I have stayed at the Edgewater many times any will be returning again next year. I do agree with a previous reviewer that the fridges are the noisiest I have ever heard - very inconvenient for whoever is sleeping in the living room. The front desk is sometimes indifferent to the guests which makes them seem quite surly at times. The "kitchens" are not quite what one imagines by that term as they do not have a dishwasher or cooker, only a toaster, coffee machine, microwave and a fridge. Nevertheless these items do allow you to cater for yourselves to a limited degree, but there are many good restaurants in the area catering for all budgets. Try Mel's Diner. The beach is fabulous, and great for anyone who enjoys collecting shells. Kevin is great as the beach person - always helpful and welcoming. I do agree that Mr. Doyle, the General Manager, should be more in evidence. They used to have drinks for returning guests on a Monday evening, but don't know if this tradition is still in operation. This really did make you seem special. All in all it is a lovely location, not the most luxurious hotel, at some times of the year overpriced, and depending who is on the front desk, they can seem unhelpful, but I still keep returning as it's one place that I can really relax.
Excellent All Round!! (Oct 25th to Nov 8th 2004)

Although expensive for food and drinks (oh and beach umbrellas at $17 per day!) the hotel, staff and service were excellent. It seemed nothing was too much trouble and our room which was a gulf view suite on the 4th floor was roomy, comfortable and very well kept by the maid service.
We took our son of 14 months and were a little aprehensive about the welcome we would receive in the bars and swish restaurants on the 6th floor but he was accepted with open arms and the waiting staff made extra effort to amuse and provide all he needed.
The beach area was very clean and well maintained, infact it we did not find fault with this hotel or its employees during our two week stay and would not hesitate to recommend a stay here.
Great Resort !

Stayed at this resort in September while attending a wedding the same weekend as Hurricane Jeanne. Needless to say, the trip was extended for a few days! The hotel staff could not have been nicer! Assisted us with extending our reservations and called to make sure we were ok and if we needed anything. We had a beautiful suite that was steps away from the ocean. It was a perfect wedding, a great time, and a great hotel. Would go back anytime, even with our extra days in Naples, we were sad to give up the view from our room!
Looking forward

Have stayed at the Edgewater at least half a dozen times and enjoyed every moment, apart from one occasion when there was building work in progress, but the Manager kindly recompensed us for the disruption. Hotel staff are extremely friendly, the hotel is clean and tidy and has the most fantastic position on the wonderful beach. We are looking forward to returning in January 2005.

vacationed Dec.2004, We were told that the hotel has a new owner. The service was sooooo slow for lunch. The wait staff was Ok but didn't seem happy. The rooms were clean but old fashioned and had a musty feel. The whole hotel needs a facelift.
Fantastic

We stayed here for two nights. The hotel staff was alway helpful, kind and courteous. Our room had an obstructed view but we spent almost all our time on the fantastic beach and looking around beatiful Naples. I would definitely stay here again. Our room had a King size bed and sofa bed a dining table and a full size refridgerator and a microwave. The maids came and cleaned our room in the morning and had a turn-down in the evening and replaced dirty towels used during the day. The concierge was fantastically helpful with where to eat and shop. We would definitely stay here the next time we are in Naples!
