Re: Air boat rides and trips

Ok, let me explain, - and welcome to VT.
You are likely talking about Naples, Florida. The problem is that you have posted this in the Naples, Italy forum. Probably getting a lot of "What!!??" reactions from the locals.

Try to post in the Florida forum and the nearest city to Naples, that you can find. Go to the Destinations window and type in Florida, and or the nearest city and post in those forums. OK? Good luck......d:o)

Travel Tips for Naples

The Beach

by kiwigal_1

This is me relaxing on the beach in Naples. It really was a lovely beach. There seemed to be a lot of retiree's in Naples (just an observation!). The water was really warm and calm. Quite different to the sea in NZ.

Third Street

by zChris

See Third Street, which is another shopping hotspot. With stores on a smaller scale but far more upmarket than those on Fifth Avenue, some very trendy and stylish people visit here. Indeed, after a day on the beach I felt very out of place among the Versace-donning divas strolling the sidewalks. Along Third Street is the Naples Mercantile (pictured), the oldest extant building in the city, dating to 1919, now a trendy Italian restaurant. Don't forget to visit the street concierge, it's the only one of its kind in the world.

Wiggins Pass Marina

by naplesone

Hey, this is worth seeing, especially if you have kids. Even if you don't.
At the marina they have pet fish. Big ones!!! If you can find this marina, buy a few shrimp (sometimes they'll give you the dead ones) and walk down the dock. The fish (Snook and Sheepshead) are there in the bay waiting to be fed! Just don't put your fingers in the water. This is a short thing, but fun to do.
Take Immokalee Road to Vanderbilt Drive. Take a right at lights on Vanderbilt and the marina is on your left right after the next set of lights.

Don Shula's

by flyingpig

Don Shula's is a good steakhouse located inside the Hilton hotel. Beware of the chocolate souffle: this dessert could feed half of Ethiopia for 6 months - it is simply gigantic and includes icecream and whipped cream.

To be honest Don Shula's still isn't as exceptional in the quality of its ingredients as Craftsteak in Las Vegas. Expect to pay US$60 per person with wine.

An Old Naples Tradition for Ice Cream

by deecat about Reginas Ice Cream

I had read in literature about Naples, Florida, that Regina's was the place for ice cream. So, Allan and I decided to try it. We were certainly attracted to the 1950's Motif as seen in the first photograph. The inside did remind me of my teen years.

The supply of different kinds of ice cream was impressive. The man who waited on us was quite friendly and talkative, which we enjoyed. I was surprised that the prices were so steep. Allan ordered a thick vanilla malt and a "side car" of dark chocolate ice cream [oh, the calories!]. As usual when he orders this anywhere, he has to ask them to make it thicker. When all was said and done, it was perfect, and he enjoyed it immensely.

I ordered a small hot fudge sundae made with maple walnut ice cream as shown in photograph #2 I was quite pleased with the texture and taste. It was dense and creamy as ice cream should be. I hate that fluffy air-filled ice cream that some places have.

I'm glad that I read about Regina's and had an opportunity to try it.
