navarre beach is a beautiful "sugar" sand beach located on santa rosa island just east of pensacola beach. navarre beach is a small unincorporated town that has been devastated by several hurricanes since 1995. navarre beach took a direct hit by hurricane ivan in 2004 any many of the town's homes and buildings were completely destroyed. navarre beach was the filming location of the 1978 movie jaws II and the hotel scenes in the movie were shot at the navarre beach holiday inn. the holiday inn was destroyed by hurricane ivan in 2004. navarre beach is home to navarre beach state park and to a section of the gulf ialands national seashore. navarre beach has been restored by the army corps of engineers and now is one of the best beaches in northwest florida. navarre beach is not as crowded as nearby pensacola beach and is a great place to surf fish.
