i was in a nicely decorated studio. it faced the parking lot but had plenty of light. a murphy bed (pull-down from the wall) holds two people; even with the bed down, it was easy to move around the room. a sofa has a pull-out bed for two. the room felt spacious for two people (several full-length mirrors help this illusion) but would be crowded for more. there is no charge for phone access.
a separate dining area has a table and four chairs. the kitchen has refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, blender, plus everything else imaginable that you might need in the way of dishes, glasses, utensils.
storage space is good for the size of the room -- two adequately sized closets (30 and 36 inches wide), three large drawers in a chest, and two smaller closets (each 12 inches wide). iron and ironing board are in one closet, along with a safe (optional, but available for $1/day). there are wooden hangers in all of the closets.
the bathroom has a tub with shower; the resort provides soap but NOT shampoo. there is lots of hot water. the towels are not luxurious but are thicker than those found in most hotel rooms.
the room has its own thermostat for heat and cooling.
there is a TV/VCR with remote and a DVD player with remote. i think there are videos and DVDs available at the front desk.
i was staying as a time-share exchange, so i don't know daily/weekly rates.
Unique Quality: the resort offers lots of activities for kids.
a cafe off the lobby has reasonably priced sandwiches and frozen drinks; it is open from 11 am to 9 pm.
in addition to the swimming pool, there are two wading pools next to each other and two spas/hot tubs, one for adults only. there is always a breeze off the ocean.
one afternoon/week, there is a free mary kay cosmetics "pampering session," which i thought was a waste of time. the participants sample various products and listen to a soft-sell sales pitch for about 45 mins.
Directions: on the "island" side, just south of where 3rd avenue (also called SR 44, the south causeway, and A1A) curves right and joins south atlantic avenue. the resort is on the east (ocean) side of the street.
the islander beach resort is located on the beach in the center of new smyrna beach. nice beach front hotel. because of it's excellent location i recommend it. a very good value for a florida beach front hotel.
Directions: central new smyrna beach.
