Which shall I choose: Discovery Cove or Epcot?

by lucylu69

I'll be going to Florida soon and have one day in which I can either go to Discovery Cove or Epcot and am not sure which one to do. My children are 1, 5, and 11. The one year old obviously is not a factor in our decision. Any advice? We've never taken the kids to either one and don't know which one would be best. Thanks!

Epcot is usually good for kids older than 12, so I would go to Discovery Cove.

Is price a factor? Discovery Cove is great but will work out much more expensive if you do the dolphin swim (except the smallest child)
Epcot is definately aimed at older kids/adults but there is things for the younger ones too, the Soarin ride is especially fab!

Other things to bear in mind are that you have to book discovery cove in advance, so check they have availability on the day you want to go and also think about weather, if it's rainy on the day there's not much else to do at discovery cove whereas at Epcot there is more to do indoors.

Hope this helps a little!

For the ages of your children, Epcot is the better choice. They have Kim Impossible, which is mission for kids. And Nemo ride and meet the Characters and Kids cot where activities for children make another adventure around the Lands. It is also the largest of the parks so no stroller congestion.

At Discovery Cove the swim age is 6+ and other than that Discovery Cove only has a few fish and Parrots, saying that we are going this year but we have older children 7 and 13

Travel Tips for Orlando

The huge Orange...

by Chicago_Dave

I dont know what it is but I saw it from a car one day.. Its a building.. It looks like a huge orange.. I was on the way to the airport ( late of course ) So I wasnt able to get a photo of it. It has to be the most shockingly nasty thing I have ever seen... In the way of a structure anyway...

There is more than one Orlando Convention Center and Visitors bureau so call before you go. If I am not mistaken trolley stop #27 is the one where the official bureau is and is where you get your tickets. It is an orange building next to the Pirates Cove Golf area.
There are 4 white buildings which are a part of it too but you do not want to go there if you are just with family and this is a pleasure trip. That place is mainly for people on business. No lines to buy tickets and tickets are normally $10 less than the regular price. Also you do not have to go to any time share presentation.

citrus bowl

by doug48

the citrus bowl is located just west of downtown orlando on tampa ave. this football stadium is home to the citrus bowl football game and once was the home field of the UCF knights. the citrus bowl also hosts rock concerts and other special events. a word of warning, the citrus bowl is on the edge of a high crime area of orlando. when attending events at the citrus bowl park in paid secure parking lots. if you park on side streets near the citrus bowl your car will possibly be missing or broken into when you return.
