Now called the Clarion Inn
The now named Clarion Inn is located in a pleasant area of Lake Buena Vista. With a car park on one side, and the Interstate 4 highway on the other side. The hotel consists of 2 blocks of rooms with a central reception area followed by a further 2 blocks of rooms. Each block of rooms are over 5 floors with lifts at both ends and an open stairway around the perimeter of each floor. If you want a quiet room ask for one on the top floor, facing the car park and in 2000 or 4000 blocks because these are further away from the reception and you have less people waking past your door between the interconnecting blocks. The windows are only single glazed and on the I 4 side of the buildings you will hear the constant roar of traffic. Our room had air conditioning and this can also act as a heater if it ever gets cold, TV, a clock radio, coffee maker which can double up as a tea maker, micro wave, fridge and a ice bucket. There is an en-suite but it does not have a sink and you have to use the only sink in the kitchen area. There was one armchair and a chair and desk. There were 2 small comfortable double beds, iron and ironing board, and a room safe. The room was cleaned daily and there was a plentiful supply of towels, flannels, soap, body lotion, hair conditioner and shampoo. The supply of coffee and if you were very lucky tea, sugar and powered milk was minimal. The housekeeping staff could also arrive early and one Sunday at 8.30am, they could arrive late sometimes at 4pm. The room was of a reasonable size, comfortable and clean. The hotel comes with free wi-fi throughout the buildings and I noticed a couple of computer terminals in the reception area. A free breakfast is available in the mornings in the restaurant but consists of a limited variety of cereal, bread which can be toasted if you do not mind the queue, jam, coffee and squash. You can pay extra and upgrade to a full breakfast if you prefer. The restaurant is open in the evenings for dinner. In the reception building there is also a bar which does snacks and a small shop, a small games room and an outlet for theme park tickets. The grounds are well looked after with small lakes and fountains. There are 2 swimming pools available, with sun beds, tables and chairs plus towels are provided. One of the pools has an adjacent area with water features for children. There is plenty of parking space and a small play area for children. There are washing machines, tumble dryers, cold drinks machines and ice dispensers available. There is a manned gate house on the entrance and you can see and hear the security staff patrolling the grounds. There are numerous restaurants and some shops close by that are within easy walking distance. You only get what you pay for and this is a reasonably priced hotel in a nice area and we are already planning our next visit.
