More about Comfort Suites Orlando

Not recommended!

by TripAdvisor Member MRSsms

Stay here if hair and crumbles in your sheets don't bother you and you don't mind making your own bed! We didn't get the rooms we were supposed to and there was NO FITNESS CENTER as the website that we checked prior to making reservations had stated. The pool area was EXCELLENT. Beware of timeshares if you inquire about theme park tickets. Overall, the internet advertising was deceiving.

Not really bad

by TripAdvisor Member Hannah16_10

During my 14-days-trip through Florida (together with my 12 year old daughter, both from Germany), this was the least pleasing place we slept and the "Suites" is definitly wrong. It´s just a normal Motel room with a very nice pool area and in a perfect location if you want to visit Universal or Sea World or Discovery Cove. The Breakfast is fine when you are there early enough. Our room was clean but dark (basement), people at the front desk were not overwhelming friendly, but ok. I consider it as good value for money.

Dead armadillo in the parking lot

by A TripAdvisor Member

The dead armadillo in the parking lot at check-in should have been a sign for us to run and RUN FAR AWAY from this hotel!! We arrived at the hotel late after a busy day at Walt Disney World only to be assigned a smoking room when our reservation clearly stated non-smoking. After a good 30 minutes of standing with 3 tired kids and suitcases we were assigned another room to which the key didn't work. When we finally got into our hotel room we were forced to live with dirty carpet, dirty room, and peeling wallpaper. There were even hangers on the walls for pictures that were missing. Luckily we only stayed here one night and were able to leave quickly after herding ourselves through the crowd at the breakfast buffett. Next time we will read the "tripadvisor" rating first (we let a AAA travel agent make this reservation for us) and go somewhere else.

Comfort Suites is quite comfortable.

by A TripAdvisor Member

The hotel was pretty nice except for the location. The rooms were clean, free breakfast was good, helpful front desk, nice pool/jacuzzi to relax in but the location was not very good. It was close to everything yet far far away. Looking at all the websites when booking the hotel seemed like it was close to a lot of shops and restaurants but in reality, none of them are walking distance. Even if they are across the street, you cannot cross that huge road.So you either have to rely on shuttles or rent a car. Otherwise, the hotel is fine.

Don't stay at this hotel

by A TripAdvisor Member

I meant to take pictures with my cell phone and now I wish that I had. they made the bed but didn't clean the table and mirror. They were quite stingy with the toilet paper but what really bothered me was that they lied on their website about a free shuttle to Wet N Wild. What they call conveience store was a niche in the wall with some sodas, soup and ice cream. a few chips. The complimentary breakfast and the pool was the only good things. The women at the front desk was rude. I was charged for games before I moved into the room. They were taken off eventually. I witnessed the front desk supervisor being rude to other guests as well. The restaurant was quite skimpy on food and there were things on the menu that they didn't have. There is no game room and you pay 6.95 per hour for the nintendo games. Forget t.v. there are the three main networks and junk. no Disney.

Average but if you are not driving don't stay here

by TripAdvisor Member Yozzer

We were told this hotel was 5-10 minutes walk to international drive, looking on the map that appears to be the case but in reality it takes an hour walking time as the highway 4 has no foot bridge or subway, so unless you have a car the hotel is isolated.
However we found the hotel clean and well equipped, with excellent air conditioning, de-humidifiers, safe, fridge and microwave in each room, large bathrooms and lounge space.
The pool area was good with a hot tub and poolside bar.
Free transport to universal/Islands of adventure was available at limited times leaving 8.30am or 10.30am returning 5.30 or 7.30pm this was easy to book upto 1 hour before leaving.
Breakfast was included and was continental every day with make your own fresh waffles, cereal, toast, doughnuts, drinks etc.
Evening meals or dinner was very limited with a selection of pizzas or burgers from the pool bar, this is OK for a couple of days but be prepared for a wait as there is only one person tending bar and cooking at the same time.
Entertainment zero!
Universal 30min by coach, Wet and Wild and International drive 10-15mins by taxi, Busch gardens 1-1.5 hours by coach.
Telephone calls from the room upto $10/min so be warned.
The shop was VERY limited, I had more choice in my hand luggage! also there was nothing you could microwave which made having the microwave pointless.
The nearest 7/11 supermarket was north 30-40 minutes walk.
Taxis from international drive to the hotel would cost around $15.
So overall a clean and tidy basic lodge/hotel with limitations especially if you have no car.

Avoid room 340!!!

by A TripAdvisor Member

when we arrived it looked fine, check in was no problem, once we got away from old lady trying to offer us cheap park tickets.(but really she was trying to get us to go to view time-share,she's located in this hotel and u need to avoid her!!not her fault really looks like she needs to retire, but in the states, pensioners r still working its really a shame!)got room key and sent on our way.first thing was the lift carpet looked very grubby not hoovered for weeks look.the next thing that struck us was the terrible damp stench as soon as we opened the room door, there was also a dehumidifier so very obviously a damp problem, the toilet leaked at the back everytime we flushed!we reported our problems on a few occasions, and a dry towel was put at the back of the toilet and changed daily(disgusting!)the dehumidifier was plugged into another socket on the other wall because the sockets on first wall were over-loaded?(it did work after that)it actually collected full basin of water daily!the worst thing about this place is the location,we were offered another room but wanted another location as well,we ended up moving to another hotel on international drive on the second week of our holiday as we were all miserable and getting no help!it also costs $10 for a cab to international drive(this is the nearest part from sandlake rd)so therefore its $20 per day to leave this place if u need supplies!we were told by our travel agent(barrhead travel glasgow)that we were on international drive. but believe me u r miles away and u cant walk unless u r very athletic and brave(about4 lanes of traffic on sandlake rd alone)free transfers to universal & seaworld only!beware $8 per person to disney each day u travel would have cost us $40 per day,we got free transfers with other hotel on international drive,we also got a cleaner room with kids tv programmes,so please b weary it nearly ruined our holiday!!staff did offer us another room, but never offered another hotel which we requested(remember this is a big company with lots of hotels in this area)so not all that helpfull!! we moved after we could take no more! at a cost of $20 for the cab alone,we got refund for 2nd week. other hotel I-DRIVE INN (across from Wet N Wild) managed by watson who did us a favour via francine was excellent a world apart. this was our first time in the states but never mind it all worked out fine thanx to ourselves!

Very Dirty

by TripAdvisor Member SwimSwamSwum

When reveiwers say this place is dirty, believe them. We unfortunately did not check reviews of this hotel before making reservations and were shocked to see the level of dishevelment at what could be a very nice property. The property itself seems newer but housekeeping had wiped down all of the glass doors in the lobby with a dirty rag and left it with big extremely visible dirty smears and dried drip marks. The rag itself was black and had been left out next to a bottle of windex on a patio attached to the lobby. The floor of the lobby had not been swept and the lobby smelt terrible. We went to see our room and were directed to take the elevator. Along the way, old spills were evident on the concrete walkway. The elevator itself had not been vacuumed in an extremely long time nor wiped down in recent memory (although given the state of the lobby, that was probably a good thing). The room itself didn't look too bad although it looked like the maid's vacuum bag was full. There was dust on all little used surfaces (like on top of the microwave, which was about belly level and so very visible) and a hair on the bathroom floor. The shower looked like it could use a scrub brush around the soap dish.

Given the general level of slovenliness, we asked for our money back. The hotel personnel were very gracious about that, thank goodness.

Thank God for the Bar Staff

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed at this hotel for our Honeymoon.
Checkin was fine and we got a lift to our room which stank and was severely needing hoovered.
We found the room very basic and a bit tired.
If you are going to stay at this hotel you need to hire a car!! we hadn't.
In the brochure from our holiday company it said that the hotel is a 5 minute taxi drive from International drive[so we thought we could walk it] this is true but what it does not mention that there is a ten lane highway inbetween, and there is no way you can walk it to I-drive!! you will have to take a taxi, the hotel has a taxi company contracted to the hotel, just a word of warning though they were charging between $8 and $12 to get to I-drive when the most a yellow cab charged was $7.
On the list of facilities included was a games room and fitness equipment,
well when we were there for the 2 weeks, there was 3 arcade machines and a excersize bike sitting on top of a treadmill in a corridor beside the toilets just off the lobby we asumed this was the games room.
There is no sit-in resturant as such, you get your free continental breakfast which is served in the lobby, which got a bit smokey when guests made and burned there own waffles, If you wish a evening meal, the Tiki bar by the pool does bar style meals [which to be honest were very tasty] but there is no area to sit as such, it would have to be on the tables by the pool or in your rooms, there is no crockery or glassware served so its on paper plates or take-away boxes.
In the lobby if you want park tickets there is a long desk one sideof it [the lefthand side] is mainly to do with timeshare so you can get cheaper tickets but have to suffer the 90 minute sales talk if thats your bag,the other side is the hotels own concierge and i would like to thank Adam for the excellent service that he provided he was friendly and very helpful.
We paid for for a package holiday!! but on leaving we were chared $2.50 per day for housekeeping which we were not told about, surley this must have been included in the price??

Overall initialally we were a bit downhearted when we arrived at the hotel.

We kind of looked at the situation as "well its just a bed for the night".!!

But what made the holiday was the 2 bar staff Reggie and Shelia they were Fun, very helpful, excellent at there jobs and a credit to the hotel, We enjoyed our stay because of them, I think it would have been a different experience if they had not been there!!!!.

Not as bad as they say

by TripAdvisor Member rosek

I booked three rooms for my family at this hotel for Sept 30-Oct 2nd and we did not see the problems that many from the UK were complaining about. Ramanda in reservations was extremely helpful and although I had booked the rooms on line she was able to help me adjust the reservations and prepay the rooms per my request.

Please remember that this area was hit by three hurricanes in 6 weeks in 2004 as evidenced by all the leaning trees near the hotel. I am sure they had a real mess to clean up and they are still recovering from that.

The rooms we had were very clean and comfortable with all the amenities you could want. My husband and I were in room 313 and although we had a sticky drawer on the bureau it was no big deal. This hotel has some wear and tear to it but it is no where as filty and run down as people have reviewed. My picky daughter didn't find anything wrong with the hotel and she has been to some hotels in London where she had to sleep with her clothes on and above the covers because the room was so filthy.

Breakfast was great with danish, toast, english muffins, oatmeal, apples, oranges, cereal, juice, coffee, milk, waffles. We ate breakfast around 6:30-7 each morning so there was plenty of food but my son went down around 9 and most of the food was gone.

We didn't take the shuttle because it only leaves at 7:30 and 10:30 so we drove to Universal which is way too far away to get to by walking. You can walk to International Drive but you would spend more like 30 minutes getting there and not the 10 minutes the review claimed. You definately need transportation if you plan to stay at this hotel.

The bar area was nice although the bartender said he would just charge the drinks to our room. We had no idea how much the drinks were until I checked my credit card statement. Our visit to the bar was interupted by rain or we would have been content to sit outside around the pool.

If you don't have to pay more than $65 a night then this would be an average place to stay because of all the little extras.

If you are to choose between going to Disnyland California or Disny world Orlando with 4 kids from November 20 to December 5 which one would you choose

Thanks so much

Disney World, hands-down. While California was the original, World in Florida is much larger, prettier, and has more to do. You can stay in the park, and travel by tram.

Definitely Disney World! So many Disney and Universal parks in Orlando. Watch the Thanksgiving weekend though (Nov. 26-29) because it will be very crowded. Since you'd be there for a couple of weeks I'd make other plans for that weekend.

Personally I would consider the summer humidity in florida when deciding. Disneyland now has added a second park, California adventure and you can buy a ticket that is good for both. They are next to each other and Knotts Berry Farm is close as well as the beach. Its usually very nice here in the summer.

I am from Southern California and I have been to Orlando - Walt Disney World area during November - December. November is still Hurricane season and it was cold down where Epcot Center/WDW is.

I must say Southern California is gorgeous in November and December.

Hope this helps.

Re: Disnyland California or Disny world Orlando

by Martinewezel

Withour doubt: Orlando, because of the different parks and water parks. Epcot is a bit droll, but Animal Kingdom and the Hollywood studios are great. There is so much to do that you probably will get a Disney indigestion after 3 days. At least, that's what happened to me :-)
Of course, when choosing Disneyland CA you can recover from this indigestion by visiting the area or going to the mountains (Big Bear lake for instance). The WDW area around Kissimmee is nothing but theme- and attraction parks, however, Kennedy Space Center is a must.

Disneyworld hands down, We have been to Disneyworld twice, 2005 & 2008 in December & found the weather to be great.
Also as you are there for an extended period I advise as a MUST DO that you reserve a day & visit Busch Gardens in Tampa & do the Sundowner Safari
www.4adventure.com/bgt2/Explore/UpClose.aspx?id=735
It was the most incredible experience that I have ever done & the Kids had an absolute ball
Plus I can highly recommend Universal Islands of Adventure, also in Orlando
Hope you have a great time

Disney World Orlando has more to do with the variety of parks: MAgic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot and the Marketplace. The water parks depending on thhe weather are a nice diversion.
