Gaylor Hotel Ice Show and Mickeys Christmas Party!

by mickey.p

Hi,

Have any of you done either of these and if so do you have any feedback?

Not sure if to book them or not but I was thinking of the Gaylord Ice thing to get us in the mood for christmas on 23rd December (figured 24th would be too busy).

With the Disney xmas party I wanted to know if people feel it warrants the extra cost as we will be visiting the parks with 21 days tickets anyway!

I suggest you wait until you get there. You can have all kinds of things to do, some of which are free.

Haven't done the Gaylord ice show but did Mickey's Christmas party twice & really enjoyed it, we thought it was well worth the extra cost. Also we really enjoyed the candlelight processional at Epcot. For really in depth answers from people who eat, breath & sleep Disney check out this website http://www.disboards.com/
Hope this helps & you have a wonderful time.

Hiya,

I've been to Orlando lots of times (7 times in the past 6 years and a few more times as a child/teenager!) and done most things but these are 2 of the things that I'm considering for this year as we haven't done them before!

Also considering visiting Winter PArk and Celebration as they both have various Christmas things on.

Anything else you could recommend would be great as we are there for 4 weeks.

I stayed at the Orlando Gaylord Resort last December.

The Orlando Gaylord Resort's Best of Christmas and the ICE show are separate entities. Admission is required to see the ICE show centered around the Christmas theme. Really neat if you have not seen large intricate ice sculptures.

The Resort's Best of Christmas is free meaning other than paying for the resort's self parking, it's free admission. The resort's main atrium is transformed into the holiday theme, and throughout the day & night there are scheduled atrium shows to get everyone in the holiday spirit. Plus it's fun exploring the 3 Florida themed atriums.

Travel Tips for Orlando

Epcot Center - Free Pop to cool down

by pooster

Weather can get really hot in summer time and you can get very exhausted and dehydrated running between rides. Ice Station Cool is a very COOL place you should go to beat down the heat. It's located near innoventions. Through the ice tunnel ( with an average teimperateure of 0 degrees and constant snowfall) leads you to a International Tasting Station. You can sample 8 different soft drinks from around the world and it's FREE !!

MGM Studios and/or Epcot...

MGM Studios and/or Epcot Center My fondest memory is Winter Park just outside of
downtown Orlando (north). It's quaint and classy. It has
been a tourist destination for many years (before
Disney existed). It is a beautiful area with lush trees
and open air restaurants for sidewalk dining. I live
here and recommend it to anyone who may be 'over' the
Disney and Universal and just want to relax for an afternoon.

It's impossible to include all the information here. I reccommend the website of a friend of mine, Deb Wills, who runs the WDW Information Guide (WDWIG) at www.wdwig.com. Anything you need to know can most likely be found there.

At Orlando's several theme...

by DesertRat

At Orlando's several theme parks you are going to have to deal with lines (queues). Lots of them. Do not even THINK of butting in (queue jumping) in front of someone else. This is seen as unspeakably rude by Americans throughout the country, but at a place as orderly and organized as Disney, it's truly beyond the Pale. If you try it, you will be told -- often in the most emphatic of terms -- that such behavior is not acceptable. Although unlikely at Disney, there are many places where you might well run the risk of a bloody nose -- or worse -- if you try it.

Packing List

by tbi3040

Dress for the heat and high humidity here. If your sun sensitve (like me), bring a parasol or a wide brimmed sun hat and a lightweight over shirt to wear during the heat of the day (noon til about 4pm). Also, comfortable walking shoes and socks - you're gonna be walkin' for miles and miles here! Do yourself a BIG favor --- Bring or purchase a good SUNBLOCK (30 SPF or higher) and some after sun lotion. If you do get burned - buy some pure aloe gel, it's worth every penny. Even if you just visit the theme parks you'll need it or this Florida sun will burn you to a crisp! TRUST ME - it's the one thing you don't want to forget! I saw a guy at one of the night clubs (February 2002) from New York and it was painful just looking at his sunburn!!! Yes, you should bring plenty of film and a camera.
