W/O Car Rental: Kissimee, I-Drive or Lake Buena Vista?
by JosueGonzalez
Planning to Visit both Disney and Universal Studios for 5 days. Which area can prove to be better under this circumstance? Any specific 1 or 2 star hotel for me and my 16 yr. son? Were planning to use hotel shuttles to reach and work our way out the parks at night since shuttles service are kind of unpredictable (sometimes).

You might consider Seralago Hotel in Kissimee but only 2 miles or so from the entrances to Disney and less than 10 miles to Universal with shuttles available from the hotel.
I-drive and LBV are only good for their respective parks.
It is more than 1-2 star but the prices are very reasonable/

Disney's ALl Star Resorts are nice on property hotels that provide shuttles to each Disney park and well as transportation to the airport and back.

I would say lake buena vista, much nicer than I drive and much easier than kissimmee if you are not getting a car. You can walk to restaurants and most holtels have free shuttles to disney and seaworld and universal.
Travel Tips for Orlando

Of course you must visit the mouse. The whole Disney experience is magical whether you are young, old, with a family, or single. I am an army brat and have just moved here to Orlando 5 years ago. And I must say, that every summer through my childhood we would come visit Disney. One of the coolest things to do at Disney is eat in Cinderella's castle. The food is decent, but it's the atmosphere that makes it special.
What order to visit the parks in
by Ischyros
Alright, first timers to Disney World are often overloaded from the first day they arrive. There is so much to do and see! The biggest question is always, where to start! For regular visitors, we always go to whatever we enjoy the most, but I have a strategy for first timers that seems to work good. On your first day visit the Animal Kingdom. This park doesn't have many attractions, but is meant to be savored leisurely, not quickly. This is a place of discovery and adventure! See the two or three top draws early, then roam the grounds looking at the different animals the rest of the day. On your second day, visit Epcot. This is a huge park that will require a lot of walking! There are several attractions but most are educational, as well as entertaining. The third park you should visit is MGM and then finally the Magic Kingdom! Most first timers make the mistake of visiting the Magic Kingdom first and then they are bored with Epcot. They thing Disney is all about fantasy and excitement! Epcot is very very interesting and popular, but it's very different from the Magic Kingdom so definitely see it before you see the Magic Kingdom.
How to Tip
by yizzy99
In Orlando, do as we locals do:
If service is excellent, tip 20%
15% is customary
If your waiter/waitress is being intentionally rude, leave them a quarter, because that stings more than leaving nothing
Suncream and not a lot else!!!!
by IloveFL
Just pack your essentials and nothing else or stuff that your prepared to leave behind as your bound to get carried away when visiting BELZ,Florida Mall and the Premium factory outlet places and Universal and WDW!! Comfy trainers for theme parks is a must, There are plenty of disposable camera outlets at theme parks but can be expensive, would be cheaper if you take your own digital camera with plenty of memory cards, camcorders and so on
Clermont
by Babzz
The city of Clermont, about a 1/2 hour to hour drive west of Orlando, has a few interesting things to offer, including the Citrus Tower (tribute to Florida's citrus industry), the Presidents Hall of Fame, and Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards, as well as Crooked River Preserve and Lake Louisa State Park nature areas in close proximity. Visit my Clermont pages for more details.
