Orlando has pretty good signage... my mom has absolutely no sense of direction and even she doesn't get lost when we drive to the parks. Orlando pretty much wants you to get to Disney World - something to keep in mind.

Travel Tips for Orlando

Read the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World

by jtb2inky

I would classify this as a "must do" prior to making the trip to Wlat Disney; especially for those of you (like me) who like to plan your trips. It is written by a group of people who love Disney World, but since they do not work for Disney, can give a fair representation of the park - like where to eat, what to ride, etc. This book is 800 pages of literally everything that you ever wanted to know about Walt Disney World, and then some. It is however, a very easy read, and quite humerous and enjoyable. You'll find yourself reading it like it were a good novel. All of the best tips and advise are in this book. The best part of the book is the schedules that are given to you to save time waiting in line. The authors have spent their lives studying Walt Disney, and have generated mathematical algorithms that calculate the optimal park touring methods (I'm not kidding about this) - and it works! We met others in the park who were using the guide, and without exception they noted how much less time they were spending in line waiting to get on a ride. They also present itineraries for traveling with children. The book is updated yearly.

Watching a sunset from the east west Exp Way

by Marinel

I think the best things in life are for free and sight seeing around the river banks, beaches and springs are a must do when visiting Florida. On my way to my parent's house who live in Volusia County I could't help but to feel hypnotized by the beautiful sunset and the flock of birds that seem to adorn the skies. It was like watching moder nature blush in front of my eyes. I get a sence of calmness when gazing at such beauty and I feel like I am part of something bigger perhaps a piece in an infinite puzzle.

BEST RAVE BAR FOR METALHEADS and COWBOYS

by Michael_D

BEST RAVE BAR FOR METALHEADS and COWBOYS(not kidding)

"Onyx"

Previously at :08, 100 W. Livingston St.,
(407) 839-4800,

www.8-seconds.com Back around the end of last year, noted hillbilly hangout :08 attempted to resurrect the Edge's glory days by opening up Club ONX within its cozy confines. Looking to cater to the alternative/radio-rock crowd, the space hosted about two months' worth of metal shows before hastily rechristening itself the easier-to-pronounce Onyx. Apparently, people were reading a little too much into the misspelled title (like us, for instance).

Everyone knows that metalheads and cowboys do not generally mix well, but add in some manglers looking to rave all night and you've got a riot in a box. Even with a new sleek name, though, the room couldn't rebound from dismal attendance and promptly shut its doors.

Here are some of my personal...

Here are some of my personal tips for optimizing your stay at the Walt Disney World. I hope you'd find it useful:-

Please DO PLAN AHEAD.
The WDW theme parks are HUGE and if you don't know your way around, you'd be spending all your time searching for your favorite ride instead of enjoying it. Arm yourself with a MAP of that particular theme park before you even arrive at the gates.
(You can get it FREE at all WDW hotels). Then head straight for the attractions that you like most.

Dress for comfort!
You'll be doing a lot of walking, believe me(!!) and waiting in line so wearing well fitted and COMFORTABLE shoes are a must.

Have a BIG breakfast.
Yes, have a good breakfast and you won't get hungry as quickly once inside the park and, can have a late lunch after the lunch time crowds have cleared the many top restaurants/ eateries. I'm sure the last thing on your mind is to stand in line (again!). :-)

Buy your WDW tickets ahead of time!
You can buy these tickets from your hotel concierge, from The Disney Store and at the Orlando (MCO) Airport. This method will save you TIME. Walk right by the ticket booth line and spend more time having fun instead!

Plan to arrive EARLY.
Getting to a popular ride or attraction before a huge line forms can save you hours later on. So, plan to be there at least 1 hour before the official park opening times.

Don't try and do it everything within a day.
Plan to stay longer here instead. This way, you'd enjoy your visit to the theme parks better.

Atlanta Braves Spring Training games

by gv_Orlando

The Atlanta Braves play their spring training games at the Walt Disney World Wide World of Sports Complex here in Orlando, FL. If you plan on attending, buy your tickets in advance online or by calling Walt Disney World. Most spring training games are sold out by game day.

The Disney Sports Complex's baseball field only seats about 9,000 spectators. There are snack bars throughout the arena. There is a gift shop that sells Braves merchandise and the visiting teams merchandise as well. Disney promotes a family friendly atmosphere, so you can count on being thrown out if you become drunk or obnoxious. If you arrive a couple hours early before the game, you can watch the teams warm-up and even get an autograph. The earlier you get there, the better if you want to meet the players.

There are games played with the audience during the baseball game in which audience members participate and win prizes, usually an autographed baseball or free dining vouchers. Some of the games are baseball trivia games, name that song, and what's in your purse?

After the game is over, kids get to go out on the field and run the bases. Bring your baseball mit!
