doubletree resort international drive

by sharonafour

i am staying at the doubletree resort 10100 international drive on april3rd. i am so worried sick over the bad reviews this hotel has received. can anyone help me calm these worries and tel me this place is great!!!

Doubletree is usually a good hotel. I would not stress over the reviews unless everything you read about the hotel is bad. I stayed in a Wymdan hotel that had bad reviews in Orlando and thought the worst, but it turn out to be really nice and coinvenant to all shops and restaurant and golf courses. Your hotel on international drive will be coinvenant to everything and I think it will holdup its' reputation. If not scream like hell.

The best way to read reviews is to discard all the ones that say everything is just wonderful, - and diascard the ones that say everything is just terrible. That leaves the inbetween, - those are usually the closest to the truth.

Often the glowing wonderful reviews are fake, and often the terrible ones are revenge postings due to some perceived injustice over a minor matter.

With all that in mind re-read the reviews and go from there.

Just curious: where are you seeing all these bad reviews? I just took a look at Trip Advisor and they're not that bad at all. There will always be a few negative reviews - and some of them from persons who either don't travel much or make mountains out of molehills. And yes, some are written by disgruntled persons (possibly employees) with an ax to grind. Truth? Sometimes hotels have a bad day - pipes break, new employees don't know the system, things get misplaced and stuff just goes wrong. It doesn't need to ruin a vacation.

Erik's advice is sound: look at everything between glowing and horrible and you'll find your answer. I see lots of positive comments for this place so I think you'll be fine.

On trip advisor it is rated 102 out of 354 hotels, which is not bad. The reports I read are very positive, and most of them, even the negative ones get a response from management. There are a few negative reviews but for the most part they are good. As one that writes a lot of reviews on Trip Advisor I would find this hotel a good bet and would stay there myself. Next time you are thinking about reserving a hotel, do your home work before you book, that way you won't be "so worried sick" when you get there.

I've stayed at this hotel twice and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The Garden Rooms have all been refurbished too. Wonderful location and only a 5 minute walk to SeaWorld (path at the rear of the hotel). I've heard recently that they intend to charge for parking, but I'm not sure of the details or if they have started doing this already . . that would be my only concern. The hotel amenities are great and I've always found it to be clean on my visits

Hard Rock ACADEMY

by Hexepatty

Got a Kid? Got a spare $1200? For Six Days, you can send your kid to a DAY camp, for a mere $1200 at the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal. They will learn how to Sing and Dance Like the kids on EnSync or Backstreet Boys. And the Girls will learn how to shake their booty like the BEST of them!!!

At the end of the six days, the kids will put on a Lip Synced Concert, cut a CD, and get a copy of the COncert on VHS tape.

AMAZING the wealth of US Parents... such freakin indulgance. Naturally we have a friend who's kid attended. Luckily, he WON a Scholarship!

Disney’s FASTPASS Service, Step-by-Step

by Hexepatty

Disney’s FASTPASS System is a revolutionary guest enhancement at Walt Disney World Resort enabling guests to have an alternative to waiting in lines for many of the most popular attractions. There is no additional charge to use Disney’s FASTPASS service. Here is how it works:

1) Ticketed guest or annual pass holder enters the park main entrance gate.

2) Guest visits any attraction offering Disney’s FASTPASS Service. Here, guest has the option of waiting in the regular standby line or choosing Disney’s FASTPASS Service. To assist there is a digital clock denoting regular wait time and the return time for Disney’s FASTPASS service.

3) If Disney’s FASTPASS option is a choice, a guest inserts his or her theme park ticket into the FASTPASS machine. Out comes the FASTPASS ticket denoting when to return to the attraction. Holders of a Disney’s FASTPASS ticket are given a hone-hour window for their return. For Example, 10:05-11:05am. That means the guest cannot enter the attractions using FASTPASS service before 10:05, but it is free to return at any time during that one-hour window.

4) Upon returning at the designated time, the guest heads straight for the Disney’s FASTPASS entrance and proceeds to directly to the attraction pre-show or boarding area with little or no wait. Currently, Disney's FASTPASS service is offered on the following attractions:

Magic Kingdom Park :
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - Frontierland
Buzz Lightyear - Tomorrowland
Haunted Mansion - Liberty Square

Oh, Dakshin, how we love you, but we long for you to be closer. Your proximity to Disney may mean more tourist dollars (or not), but surely you must know how we pine for your lusciously spicy seafood dishes and hard-to-find Goan preparations, but shrink from the thought of battling T.G.I. Friday's customers for a parking spot. All of it is served in such a classy way in such a beautiful environment … those sun-pinked Ohioans surely don't love you as much as we do. Come closer, Dakshin, and we will reward you with the banana-leaf hugs you deserve.

UCF Football

by Florida999

Orlando doesn't have a pro football team, or even a really good college football team, but it is still fun to go watch a UCF game. Maybe someday they will be a good college football team....one can hope...

On New Years, they also have the Citrus Bowl game ( same stadium).
