Great Orlando family hotel

Great family hotel!! We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express over the Easter holiday for 5 days. We had a wonderful breakfast each day served from 6:30-9:30. Although the breakfast room was a little crowded, we did not have any trouble getting a table and the food was always fresh, and the staff was friendly. Every day there were hot scrambled eggs or omelets, biscuits and gravy, waffles (toast yourself), cinnamon rolls, assorted pastries, muffins, etc. Great cereal selection including oatmeal. There was hot coffee in the lobby 24 hours a day. '

The Pool was great!! A fun water slide (not too big..just right for all ages) that slides right through a Waterfall!!! Our nine-year-old boy absolutely loved sliding down through the waterfall. The pool was heated so it could be used even on slightly cool March days.

The hotel was very clean and the rooms were large. We had two queen sized beds and a rollaway in our room..in addition to the standard table, tv center, and two chairs. Still plenty of room to walk around. We also had a refrigerator and microwave which came in very handy!!
Our room was also quiet and had black-out curtains.

The hotel also has free wireless internet. Our old laptop did not work with it, but our son's new laptop worked fine. There is also a computer in the lobby for guests to use.

There was a shuttle to the parks, but we did not use it. We found the hotel to be very convenient for driving to the parks. It took us only about 10 minutes to drive to the Disney Parks, Sea World, etc. We parked our car free at the hotel.

The immediate area has lots of restaurants and little shops. We walked to pizza hut and CiCi's pizza.

We highly recommend this hotel for families. We booked it over the internet with a prepaid reservation for $100 per night.

Unique Quality: Great heated pool with waterfall, Complimentary hot breakfast, free wireless internet in the rooms, free parking, convenient to theme parks.

Great Hotel for Disney/Seaworld vacation

by karenayahoo about Holiday Inn Lake Buena Vista, Fl

We visited Disney May 2-6 this year with a 9 yr old. Presonally we found the parkhopper to be a waste of money. One day in each park is quite enough. The longest lines were for character pictures. We stayed at Animal kingdom for 4 nights and it was very nice but expensive. The Disney hotels are huge and there is too much walking to get from one place to another. We would not stay again. Disney transportion is great but some of the hotels outside disney have free transportation to and from the disney parks if you do not want to drive and they are very nice and reasonably priced. We also have stayed at Holiday Inn express in Lake Vista (very close to everything) and it was great clean with comfortable beds plus a great pool with a slide thru a waterfall and hot breakfast! I lucked up and got a great deal thru expedia. ( $67 including tax ) I have many suggestions on restaurants in that area and inside the disney parks too if you are interested.
Tip: I found tourguidemike.com and mouseears.com helpful The pool is beautiful but a little small. However it was not crowded when we were there.

Two thumbs up

We stayed the first week of our vacation in a timeshare, one of the Marriot properties, and the final three days, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. I would have to say that the beds were more comfortable and the room was cleaner than at the Marriott. I was really impressed with the breakfast that they provide. My whole family felt the same. It is a terrific value and it's in a location that is freeway friendly. I would totally recommend this hotel to friends and family.

OK Hotel

We stayed at the HIE for two nights in late February. The hotel accomodations were o.k. We paid $108/night and the room is very plain. It's definitely a family friendly hotel. The breakfast was really good - they have everything under the sun, not just donuts and cereal. We enjoyed breakfast poolside.

My husband went to the pool first without me. He returned to say, "they must have had a really good photographer". Despite our disappointment in how small the pool was, our boys loved it. They went down the slide a number of times and the water temperature was nice and warm.

The location is wonderful for those going to Sea World or Universal Studios. We stopped at a local store to buy sunglasses and a bag before hitting the parks and found out there is a new highway connecting the hotel to Universal. It wasn't busy and we were at Universal in under 10 minutes.

I found two ants in our room on the second day. We came from the land of snow, so I know we didn't bring them with us. I told the woman at the front desk, and she asked if they bit us and that was it.

So, all in all, I'd say it was o.k. I will probably try another hotel next time we're in the area, but it wasn't bad enough that I wouldn't stay there again for a good deal.

Mixed reviews

We stayed at this hotel twice in FEb 2007. The first weekend was on the 6th floor where the room was clean and well maintained. We were pleased except for the guy that sits at the ticket desk.. he left 45 minutes before the shuttle was supposed to arrive and was gone the entire time until 2 minutes before the shuttle was going to leave. Said the transaction would take 5-10 minures. We got our tickets at WDW instead.

The second weekend we stayed we were on the 2nd floor. The room was dated and not clean ( 7 hairs in the shower and a dirty bathroom floor). The fire exit door that lead to the parking lot was propped open the entire time.

The hotel is situated at a good location. Close to WD, Univeral and a great outlet mall.

Very good value

by TripAdvisor Member Jayde100

Stayed here during first week of March, mostly due to good reviews on this site, and was not disappointed. Location is excellent...about 10 minutes from all the major theme parks, 5 minutes to Downtown Disney, and within a mile or so of I-4, yet off the main roads. Very friendly, from the front desk to the maintenance staff I saw offering kind small talk to kids in the elevator. The rooms are a bit larger than a typical room in this price range. Quiet and clean, with super comfy bedding, big fluffy towels, granite bathroom counters, microwave and small refrigerator...a few nicks in the shower floor, but otherwise great condition. Lobby is not fancy, but attractive with stone tile and wood. Complimentary breakfast had lots of options and was well maintained and refilled. Although small, the pool area was pretty and clean. I travel on business often, and this place has the feel of a room costing $30-$50 more per night (we paid $100-$108), especially given the good location. I'd happily visit again.

Outstanding Hotel

Stayed two nights here and three nights at a timeshare. Wished we would have stayed at this Hotel entire time. Recently remodeled and shows it. Beautiful rooms, pool area, lobby, and free continental breakfast. We had a room with a king bed and sofa for our child. Staff was very pleasant. Disney was two blocks away.

Great budget hotel

by TripAdvisor Member houstonRN

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights while visiting Walt Disney World. We both agreed that this hotel is perfect for a family on a budget. The continental breakfast was great with bagels, english muffins, juices, coffee, etc and also saved us from spending money at the park. The shuttles are also a nice convenience, but only drop off and pick up at Epcot. You might be cutting it close if you want to watch another park's closing show, since you have to be back at Epcot for the last shuttle at 10pm. The only problems we experienced were with the other guests at the hotel. One was a high school group that called our room at midnight and neighbors that kept slamming their balcony door 3 times/minute. The front desk attendant was very nice and took care of these problems in a very timely manner.

Great little hotel!

by TripAdvisor Member beachkat2

My daughter and I stayed here for one night, and we wished we could have stayed longer. The room was unexpectedly large and clean. The queen sized beds were extremely comfortable with high quality linens. Big fluffy towels and nice toiletries provided. Well beyond what we expected for the price we paid.

The fridge was useful for chilling water bottles. Microwave available too, but we didn;t use it.

The private balcony would be a good place for a bit of privacy after the kids go to sleep.

The free breakfast was heavy on carbs, but very good and quickly replenished. I liked the to-go coffee cups available to grab a cup of coffee for the road. Lots of room to sit with nice views of the pool.

We didn't get to use the pool area but it was pretty and the water slide looked like fun for kids. Small playgound as well. Saw laundry facilities and a ticket booth in the hotel too.

Check-in/out was easy, friendly staff. Liked the bowl of fruit at the front desk.

It was very close to the Disney property entrance, and easy to find for a first time visitor to Orlando.

This hotel had a lot of features for a very affordable price. Would highly recommend it!!
