More about Quality Suites Universal Studio
Affordable and convenient
by TripAdvisor Member karefredky
We spent 5 days here while visiting Universal and Sea World. Since it is just off of International Drive, it is quiet and traffic is easy. The room was adequate with a door between bedroom and sitting area where an additional person can sleep on a pull out bed quite comfortably and with privacy. The breakfast was only fair, but with a fridge, we kept breakfast snacks in our room. We found the shuttle to Universal quite adequate - about 30 minutes with the stops at other hotels. We had a car, but didn't wish to pay to park each time, but you can park free in the evening at Universal if you wish to go back to Citiwalk. There are many attractions and restaurants within walking or short drive.
Great deal for the $$$

Stayed here Feb. 28-March 4, 2005. Hotel room was spotless as was the pool/hot tub area and breakfast room. Ask for a top floor room as view is nice. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful.Rooms was a 2-room suite which was great to have living room space.
Only drawback-elevators are slow and dirty. Lobby furniture needs to be replaced.
Great happy hour each evening-all you can drink.
Breakfast typical buffet but a little bit different each day.
Easy walking access to restaurants. Safe neighborhood. Just 8 miles from rental car drop-off.
Allowed us to have late check-out, no charge.
Definitely a bargain for the money.
a good little 3*

good points - daily housekeeping, location for Universal/IOA/Wet & Wild, free shuttle if not using car, free happy hour (2 hours), quiet area but close to I-drive, pool temperature & outside spa
not-so-good points - breakfast a bit limited & repetative, not enough sunloungers, lifts slow & stairs area in need of attention
Excellant Hotel

Just arrived back from a two week stay at this all suite hotel. This is the second time we have stayed at this property. Suites are well equiped with microwave, cd player, fridge and nice sized TV with pay per view movies, although there are a lot of free channels also. The free hot breakfast buffet had plenty of choice, and the free 2 hour cocktail hour from 5:30 - 7:30 every night was great. Free buses to all the disney parks, Universal Studios and Seaworld. All the staff are really friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel to all my family and friends. The atmosphere is great - all the facilities that you need for a great family holiday without any hassle.
No Quality in Quality Suites Universal

I thought I had done my homework in choosing a hotel for our vacation. It was too good to be true to find a suite for less than 700.00 for a week and it was. We were assigned room 517 on 7/23/05. I knew there would be a problem when I entered the lobby of the hotel. The door to the lobby was badly in need of painting and cleaning but I registered anyway.
We were told that luggage carts could be anywhere on the property and we 'found' one outside in the rain. The halls leading to the elevator were smelly and dirty. The staff had the door open to a laundry storage area and they were BLASTING music.
Once we got to the room, we didn't even unpack our wet luggage cart. The carpet was soiled and musty. The furnishings were outdated. The tub was leaking and had rust stains in it. By the way, the bathroom was located in the bedroom and the only access for a guest who sleeps on the sofabed would be through your room. (My adult sister was vacationing with my wife and I). Wndows and mirrors were filmy. The refrigerator was clamy
They offered another room but I couldn't expect any better. Thankfully they refunded our deposit and we stayed in Hawthorne Suites on Canada Avenue. (Read that review) To her credit, the front desk clerk was pleasant. That's the only good experience I can relate about this property. I can't understand how this could be a 3 star hotel.

I just completed a four night stay in this property. Picture does not look like the property. One disapointment of the other. After checking in late in the evening and asking for the Web Access code I was handed a nylon case with a "warning" that it would be $300 dollars if I lost the "internet connection box" you are required to use to connect on line. Going the the room was an experience as you access all your rooms from outside. The elevators are one of the slowest around and beat up. The room was interesting - the carpet a lovely shade of "stains". The room was run down and in sad shape. The security gates leading to the outside parking areas and back into the property were not working correctly or at all. When the desk was told I was informed that "they know". I had to have my electroninc room key rekeyed at least 3 times. Not very clean. The stairwells smelled like urnials when I used them because the elevators take for ever. The breakfast buffet was "industrial" more like a chow line. Unless you are sold on "Quality Suites" I would pass at this property.
Good, Clean, Hotel

We stayed here fro 2 weeks commencing 24th September 2005. I dont know if the previous post was staying at the same hotel, but we found none of the problems mentioned. Arrived at about 9pm to be greeted by a pleasant young man who confirmed my e-mail requesting 2 non-smoking adjacent rooms on an upper floor. Rooms were nice and were cleaned and towels changed every day, beds made etc... Lifts were a bit slow but clean and unbattered, didnt detect any bad smells anywhere. Free breakfast was plentiful and had a good selection (cereal, toast, bagels, pastries, fruit, bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, oatmeal, biscuits). Daily happy hour was great with plentiful supply of drinks by Mike or Bobby the friendly barmen. Pool was a little small, however clean and no fight for loungers, pool towels also provided. Security onsite every night and gates needing swipe card entry always worked (problem was people didnt close them properly when they came and went - not hotels fault!) If youre looking for a palace this is not the place for you, however for good clean accommodation, friendly staff and reasonable prices in a good location, i would recommemd this hotel.
Great bargain but some stuff just ain't right...

The QSU is located 2 blocks off I-Drive, what makes it less noisy and less crowded. The building seems to be solid concrete, a nice thing to know when Wilma and her terrible sisters arrive. There is plenty of parking spaces available, so this is no issue at all.
The staff is friendly, the guys who get you coupons and theme park tickets are usually very helpful and treat you right. Not pushing into buying something or stuff like that. The front desk management is kind and does everything you ask them for.
The breakfast, which is free is not really good, but it's ok to start the day. They offer the regular buffet style stuff like french toast, oatmeal, eggs and sausages and so on. The bagels are ok. Sometimes the room lacks cleanliness, but overall, it is ok. Don't expect Bellagio when you pay Sahara!
The room we got was really ok. It has (like every room) a living room with an ok couch, a fridge, a microwave, coffemaker and a sink. Also an extra TV set. The bedroom was equipped ok. The AC was old and had no really good automatic. It is very noisy, too. The bathrom is small and simple, but has everything you need. The room was very clean, not smelly at all. Housekeeping was really good, they finished cleaning the rooms usually at 11am. The pillow were too hard though. Felt like sleeping on a rock.
One thing that really disappointed me was the fitness room. The machine they got there is broken and the entire room is just a mess. Fix it, this is plain embarrassing.
Overall I would recommend this place to family with little kids who mainly focus on the theme parks and to young couples like us. You cannot compare this to business traveller hotels, it is just a bargain place to sleep while you do your annual outlet race.
for the price.....AWESOME!!!

it's an average suite...BUT for the price i rated it above average...BECAUSE i've stayed at the ramada (in a suite) by the airport in orlando earlier this year and the suite was alot nicer/cleaner BUT it was $120 a night.......first of all go to choicehotelsDOTcom and make your reservation and make sure to choose 'internet rate' (the pulldown tab) and you have to reserve it online ((((or you can call and get the GM or floor manager to match the price online if you feel more comfortable and they might...they did for me))))... but anyway i got an internet rate the week of halloween (october 26th Wed and october 27th Thur.) for $63.99 a night at the internet rate!!! of couse you have to pay the 11.5 % hoteltax and w/ that it came to $71 a night....considering it was a suite that's a steal!! when i got in the room i did my investigating to see how the room was.....when you walk in thiers the living room w/ the sofa (pull out bed too) desk, side table next to the sofa, coffe table in front of the sofa, entertainment center w/ 27inch tv & small cd player/radio, built in sink on top of entertainment centercoffee maker..on the desk in living room the movie console/pad to order movies (good movies that aren't even for rent yet..i was happy w/ that even though they are $12.78 w/ tax to watch))....divided by a door there's the bedroom w/ a nice sized KING bed..two end tables, in front big bureau/drawer center w/ 27 inch tv on top lamps, next to that closet w/ iron board & iron...vanity outside of bathroom (nice size) and of couse the closed of bathroom....the bathroom was ok, you can tell their older.....overall the suite is a good setup for the price......the front desk was very courtious w/ help w/ the movie ordering and wake up calls, asked them where a good pizza place was and they were helpful w/ that and got me the number for it too......the hotel has a nice sized pool and a great jacuzzi..that didn't seem to be overcrowded too much so you can actually use it at the right time!! there's a gift shop//candy//soda//soviniers, etc....a little game room for the kids....but of course i went down and played a little pinball and cruisin usa.....there's hot breakfast (pretty good too) from 7 - 10am.....free cocktails from 5 - 7pm.....shuttle service to universal and other parks....not just anybody can get in the hotel from the outside because there's gates that use your hotel keys, pretty safe....didn't have a problem getting a parking spot in the early hours of the mornin.....overall I was very happy w/ my stay and will definetly look into staying here again when i go back to the orlando area.....I just got back from Halloweek Horror Nights @ Universal and had a great time there!!! Quality Suites is very affordable for your not so standard hotel....sure you can get an awesome suite for $125 - $200 in the orlando area but if your on a budget this is the place to stay.....

Park Tickets
by lynmur
Has anyone ever used any of the ticket outlets on I-Drive to buy park tickets? If I remember they seem to offer them at discounted prices, we are off there this week and want to go for the day and just wondered if these were cheaper than paying at the gate.
Thanks

The booths that you see on I drive and in hotels, McDonalds etc tend to be timeshare, you can get discounted tickets but only after you have been to see a selling presentation for the timeshare company.
