Heated Pool

by lynmur

We are staying in Kissimee 20th Oct - 3rd Nov, not sure whether we should pay to get pool heated or not, does anyone know if we will need our pool heated or if the water will be warm enough? Planning on spending a lot of time at our pool and relaxing, only doing parks a couple of days this time.
Thanks in advance for any help with this.

You mean book a hotel with a heated pool vs a hotel with an unheated pool? I think the water should be warm enough at that time of year.

Re: Heated Pool

Thanks, we have booked a private villa but it is extra to get the pool heated and just wondered if it was worth paying the extra, i thought that the water probably would be warm enough but just wanted some advice, we are taking our 2 year old and 3 month old so need warm water for them.

It doesn't get cold as quickly in central FL as it does farther north, but whether you need to get the pool heated will depend a lot on the weather just prior to your visit. That isn't easily predicted.

It also depends on how warm you need the pool to be. My husband doesn't like to swim if the water isn't at least 80 deg F and I can be happy in much cooler water.

Is there any possibility of deciding after you get there?

Right. I would see how cool the water is when you get there and have it warmed if necessary. And lots of tots do just fine in unheated pools (most of us grew up without that amenity) so I wouldn't worry too much. The water will not be icy - probably just a bit chilly when you first get in. If they have an infant's pool, those tend to be very shallow so are warmer than deeper adult pools.

Thanks everyone, if we wait until we get there its more expensive to heat the pool so just thought I'd check it out before we went. On everyones advice am not going to get the pool heated as I think the water will be warm enough.
Thanks very much.

I think it would depend on the extar price. Why take the chance for a few dollars more. Heat the pool and be sure it will be nice for you.

The average temperatures in November are:

Avg. Temp High: 77° F - (25 C)

Avg. Temp Low: 56° F - (13.3 C)

Travel Tips for Orlando

Don't wait in long lines - get a fastpass

by corcatk

Disney offers FastPass for most of the major rides. Just find the fastpass booth, near the ride entrance, insert your park ticket and you will get a pass with a time period printed on it.
Return within that time period and bypass the long line. The fastpass service is free and well worth it if the lines are long.

Fastpass times are limited and I have heard then can go quickly during peak times.

Orlando Tip

by DesertRat

Beyond the usual amusement park-style rides (amusement park = UK 'fun fair'), my favorite 'event' at Disney World must be the evening parade. Disney knows 'show-biz' and this IS 'Show-Biz' with capital letters. The lights, the music, the superb costuming, and the splendid presentation makes an event out of non-event. And don't forget the fireworks display at the end just before the park closes...

Handy Tips

by Carnation

Entry fees are $27.00 per adult.

Expect to be searched and your bags and camera to be inspected by security staff upon entering the complex.

Get there early to avoid disappointment of some of the special features showing.

Bring lots of soft drinks, snacks and food with you as the food and drinks here are very expensive.

Large numbers of teenagers...

by wbozic

Large numbers of teenagers from Brazil in tour groups come every Summer to have fun and explore. Please be a friendly host/guest and remember these are teenagers who just want to have fun, but may not be aware of American standards. Be tolerant.

Packing List

by twings

It all depends on where and how you travel. If you are staying in one place. Suitcases full of stuff is ok, but always be judicious. You can buy things you need here...cheaper away from the theme parks. Shorts, Light shirts and comfortable shoes all year round. Bring a light waterproof jacket or raincoat. Rain in the afternoon is probable all year round. If it is winter (sometimes January) a sweater and long pants for the evenings would be smart. All perscriptions and perscription medication. Headache medicine, the normal. Sunblock and Mosquito repellent. There are many stores if you forget anything. (Buy at Wal-mart or K-mart if you can) Anything you like...beware of pickpockets. Mosquito repellant. If you are in a busy area keep things locked in the car. Patience and fun!
