Westgate Palace is a beautiful hotel
by TripAdvisor Member yazmin182
My family and I stayed at the Westgate Resort for 2 nights. The hotel itself looks very classy even though it only has a 2 star rating, it should be much higher! The rooms were amazing and so was the view. The service wasn't that great from my personal experience but i was having too much fun in orlando to care! we didn't get to swim in the pool but it looked like a great pool, check out the pictures i posted! The location i thought was great too. My favorite part was the stylish glass stand up shower with tiles! I felt like i was at a luxiourious spa! My only complaints are as follows: I did see 2-3 hairs on the floor in the shower which wasn't comforting but i got over! My other complain is they used this extremely strong cleaner in the room, they must have sprayed it on everything. it smelled like rancid oranges but you get used to it once you're in the room for 5 min. This was in January so I hope they chanaged their cleaner fluids by now because i did complain about it! Lastly, once we arrived (it was dark) it was hard to tell where to go for the main office. It was difficult because you have to go to one area for the main office to check in, then you have to go outside again and go through another door to get to your room. There's no inside entry which is quite annoying. So when you're checking in, you might want to leave your bags in the car. That's all, enjoy your stay!

fab time

The hotel was far more than we expected due to the fact that we had read so many dodgy reports on the accommodation. We were over the moon with the overall apartment. the room was newly renovated and was in great condition ,everything appeared to be used for the first time by us. Fully equipped kitchen- washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove, microwave and all appropriate gadgets eg toaster and percolator. The bedrooms were a good size, bathrooms fab- master with jacuzzi bath separate shower and toilet, second bathroom adjoining to the living area and second bedroom with a twin vanity area and double shower. It's just a pity that I couldn't use the relaxing room to it's full potential as there was no peace from our 2 small children .We were never approached by anyone about timeshare although this is a timeshare accommodation. The maid service was erratic but never a problem we had our trash emptied, beds made and towels replaced on a regular basis. location was fab, pool and rooms great. We have stayed in motel rooms and the Enclave Suites next door to the Westgate Palace and this has been our best accommodation yet. Will stay there on our next trip.
An Apartment in a Tower Block!
by TripAdvisor Member ctye
We booked this hotel over the internet and were quite unsure of what to expect, but this was far beyond our expectations. This hotel was like an apartment in a tower block. The apartment consisted of 1 double bed room with a jacuzi and a sink unit in the bedroom, and seperate toilet and single shower. It also had a 25" TV. The 2nd bedroom (same size as 1st) had 2 single beds and TV. Seperate to this was a double sink unit and attached was a toilet and large shower. The kitchen had a large oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier and large fridge/freezer. There was an abudance of crockery and cookware, and all hidden handy extras (washing up liquid, place mats, ice maker in freezer, coffee maker, toaster, casserole dishes, dishwasher powder). There was a comfy settee and yet another TV with a coffee table. We only took the maid service that was included in the price of the hotel but still had clean, fresh pool towels AND bathroom towels everyday. In 2 weeks the linen was changed 3/4 times. You could pay extra to have the maid come in every day and make beds/clean bathrooms/wash floors which I think was about $20 a day. We received only one telephone call and one letter which tried to arrange a meeting to see what the staff "could do for us", we assumed this was to try and sell us timeshare but when we didn't respond we weren't approached again. The pool in the hotel lost the sun for part of the afternoon (when it was hidden behind the 2 tower blocks) but the pool was clean, the loungers comfortable and the was many of them. There are no facilities at the hotel (bar/restaurant etc) and only a small games room, but International Drive is literally 7/8 minutes walk away so this was not an issue for us. There seems to be refurbishment still going on but we saw absoloutley no sign of it for the whole two weeks we were there. The staff were helpful when required but we saw very little of anyone and when we requested to change to a room with a view of Wet'n'Wild this was no issue. A fab hotel for an excellent price, comfy enough to spend an evening in after a hard day at the park!
Top Quality Rooms
by TripAdvisor Member frog_girl
We stayed 5 days/4 nights in July 2006. Half of the hotel was under construction, and so it will only get better once the construction is all done!
The room was wonderful - top quality. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite. The 2 bedrooms are separated by a living area with a leather couch and granite floors. It also is open to the full kitchen with granite counter tops and a bar. Off of the kitchen is a washer/dryer. Each bedroom and the living room have large tv's with remote controls.
Breakfast was delicious, but NOT complimentary. $10 per adult and children are free with a paying adult.
The time share tour was the only negative part of the stay - but could have been taken care of had we been more assertive. The tour was only supposed to last 90 minutes, but ended up being closer to 2 1/2 hours. The last 20 minutes, you end up talking to 2 other people, beside the individual that takes you on the tour. If you say "no" to the first person, the price comes down considerably when the "supervisor" comes over to talk to you. If you say "no" again, the next individual tries to sweeten the deal once again. (I've experienced similar situations with car salesmen.) I suggest that you let your tour guide know up front that you are LEAVING after 90 minutes.
If you don't mind the tour, you will have a fantastic visit - we would do it again!
