I'm not sure, but I seem to remember that Orlando is not near the ocean and thus no beaches. Try to stay at one of the Disney hotels.. they have artificial lakes and beaches there.

That's right, Orlando is about an hour drive away from the ocean, that's probably why you couldn't find a hotel located on a beach.

More information than any human could possibly need about traveling to Orlando. The Disney resorts will cost a lot more than staying outside of Disney, time vs. money. You can stay in nearby Kissimmee if you have a car or are willing to take a shuttle to Disney. Parking at Disney will be extra.

I think I just saw an ad on TV touting 30% discounts on Disney resorts, don't know the time frame or if April is covered but you might have a look at their website

And the two posters above are correct, you will not be able to stay on the beach and be close to Orlando since it's in the center of the state. Take a daytrip instead out to the beach, it's easy enough to get to by car.

Dining Plans at Disney

by starship

In order to update information about the Disney Dining Plan since my last trip, I tried to research current costs and changes to the plan for 2009. I did locate some information about the plan on the Disney site, but searches for prices was virtually fruitless at this time.

Perhaps that is because for a limited time, Disney is offering to include the meal plan when you book a vacation package with them at one of the Disney resorts.

Generally, the plan has previously included one or two snacks, one quick service meal, and a seat-down dinner for each person, per night of stay. Several years ago, the plan also included appetizers and desserts + gratuity for sit-down meals. However, the plan has been significantly changed since 2006.

***Please check with Disney for a thorough explanation of the plan, what it covers, and when and where it can be used.***

The Disney Meal Plan used to be an extraordinary bargain at Disney World during a time (2006) when it was difficult to find bargains of any type in this fairytale land. It still may be advantageous to purchase a plan depending on the individual needs of yourself or your family, but be sure to obtain all details and understand the restrictions prior to arriving at your Disney Hotel.

Well for us dutch people who don't know what to eat in the morning just go to Dunkin Donuts you can get all sorts of bread (not just donuts as you would expect) but also croissants, buns and more with jelly and i nice cup of coffee...or what we like the most a coollata. It's sort of a slush puppy / milkshake kind of thing...well just try one..you'll see what we mean. The best memory is of something we can never do again..that's arriving the first time at the airport..
We'd arranged to be picked up to get us on our way from the airport to the car rental. It's a good thing that we did it this way the first time because the feeling 'ok we're here what now ?' can get a hold of you when you first arrive...

In a strange way this is just the best memory because everything you'll see and do is the first time...

Japanese Torii

by Sharrie

Check out the vermillion torii archway, a traditional symbol of good luck. This can be seen near the entrance to JAPAN showcase. Experience Japan with its 5-storey pagoda, bonsai trees, stone lanterns, artfully arranged rocks & feudal fortress housing ancient Japanese treasures. Has to be all those Japanese dolls found at Mitsukoshi! Love those ningyo but just too expensive to bring home... art pieces starting from US$400! Enjoy having tempura & teppanyaki here.

Tip 10-15% of your bill while at restaurants. Cast members working inside the parks of disney are not allowed to take tips. If an offer of a tip is made to a cast member they are to say 'thank you, but I cannot accept tips'. If a second offer is made they are to repeat the line. If a third offer is made they are to graciously accept the tip, then contact their supervisor to handover the tip. I know this because I worked at Disneyworld
