hotel/suites with kitchens in Orlando area
by clg12321212
Hi..
We're planning a trip to the Orlando area in late March and we're looking for a hotel/condo/suite that is reasonably priced and has a kitchen or kitchenette. Our usual place is already booked for our visit. We're two adults and two small children. Does anyone have suggestion? We usually stay at The Wakulla Suites in Cocoa Beach so we're willing to travel a bit for a good place. Thanks!

I have put our guys in this one for trade shows many times and they really like it.

Sign up for the membership with Wyndham and there are benefits when you get to your room, such as your favorite beverage on the house.

I live pretty close to Orlando and with my son in College in the area & year passes to both Disney and Universal we like to stay at Mike Ditka Resorts Runaway Beach Club. It has everything you need down to a washer & dryer. I found it to be perfect. Just a quick note ,, Don't expect to be pampered & waited on, house keeping is very slow, but keep in mind you are pretty much self contained and you should not need much. Perfect little hidden secret ! Have a Great trip !

We've stayed at the Hawthorn on Canada Ave twice and it's great and cheap. You get free breakfast, free happy hour, there's a kitchen and living room and pool. It's near I-drive.
Travel Tips for Orlando
The Orlando Gecko's
by littlesam1
I saw the Moose on the Loose Street Art in Toronto. I saw the cows in Chicago. I also saw cows in London. My home town of Baltimore had Fish Out of Water Street Art last year. When I was in Orlando in December 2000, they had Gecko's for street art. By far they were the most bizarre of all of the different types of street art I have seen. Pictured here is my daughter Danielle at one of the main intersections in Orlando posing with two kissing Gecko's.

Check out Sonic on the far north part of International Drive. They have old time rock and roll music playing, drive in and order, waitresses on roller skates. Fun spot and great pineapple shakes. If you are really hungry, check out the Las Vegas Buffett on 192. Chinese, American, Italian, and all you can eat. Yummy! Speaking of 'yummy', the Golden Corral on 192 in Kissimmee has awesome, all you can eat, charbroiled steaks in the evenings along with an elaborate HUGE buffett. Seems like all we did was eat. hehe We all (yes from 1 year old to 50) rode the carousel at Disney Animal Kingdom together. It was great :)
Go to the Mexico Pavilion!

Go to the MEXICO Pavilion! Inside this 'ancient' pyramid, on a boat cruise, you can sail along the river of time: 3 Mexican eras, Mayas, Toltecs & Aztec empire. In the Plaza de Los Amigos, it's moonlight all day long with mariachi music! Mexican cuisine & live fiesta entertainment...

Pio Pio
5752 International Drive, (407) 248-6424
Your first jaunt into this fabulous Colombian restaurant will be the beginning of a longtime love affair with their roasted chicken and garlic sauce. Even though Pio Pio is practically hidden in the back of an International Drive strip mall, it's clean and comfortable, and the no-frills atmosphere makes it a great lunch spot, a casual dinner joint, even a good place to dine alone. The service is friendly and even though the food choices are limited, everything on the menu could induce severe Latin-food addictions.
Swimming and golf can be mixed
by redtrike1
If you play golf then it is essential that you have a round or 2 while you are over here.
It is a good opportunity for 'the wife' to go out and buy you a nice present.
The courses are nothing like the ones in the UK and really have to experienced.
Remember that they work on the principle of fast play so there is no walking the course as buggies are used throughout. The courses are well thought out and extemely well tended, even the municipal courses.
Remember to take one of the money off coupons with you otherwise you may find it a bit expensive, but well worth it none the less.
The people on the course I found to be extremely friendly and very helpful. Not quite to the extent of helping you with your swing but good to talk to for course tips.
If you dont want the others to spend all your money, then you can let them do the other really popular activity while you are away, and that is swimming, either in the hotel pool or at one of Disneys water parks (they are excellent) just remember to get a waterproof camera. We didnt have spikes, hired the clubs there. Bought the balls from Wallmart.
They do ahve a semi-bress code so check before you go.
The courses have everything you need.
