Loved Staybridge Suites Lake Buena
I, my husband, 2 kids and mother-in-law recently spent a wonderful week here during January, 2005. We stayed in one of the 2BR suites which included a full kitchen and living room. It was very clean and spacious enough for our party of 5. There are 2 heated pools and a hot tub which we all enjoyed. The included breakfast was quite good; eggs, bacon, potatoes and sausages were offered in addition to the normal cereal and muffins. A big convenience is that the Winn Dixie supermarket is within walking distance from the hotel. The hotel is about 10-20 min. from Disneyworld (Epcot is closest, furthest is Magic Kingdom), so renting a car is a must. The staff were friendly and efficient and the price was great ($127 per night-best rates are on their official website)
One issue to be aware of is that there is no elevator, so if climbing stairs is a problem make sure you book a ground level room.
Bottom line: Great hotel, we will definitely return!
We stayed at the Staybridge Suites Lake Buena Vista in early October. The hotel had just survived the effects a number of hurricanes. Except for some debris and damaged landscaping, it appeared to have fared well.
We found the service to be quite good. The employees were very helpful and friendly. The lobby area was being remodeled with new furnishings. Customers should be advised that the property consists of a number of three story walk-up buildings...NO ELEVATORS. We checked into a two bedroom suite and found it located on the third floor. The steps to the third level were extremely steep. As we had grandparents in our group, we immediately asked to be moved. Management was accommodating and moved us the following day to a first floor unit.
We found both rooms to be quite worn and not up to standard. The air conditioning in both units were not up to par and did not work properly. The carpets were very soiled and not tacked down in places. The furniture was very worn. The beds were acceptable but not great. Our towel rack was broken off the wall. Sheets and bedding were thin and the bed spreads smelled.
The pool area, laundry facilities and common areas were quite nice but in need of maintenance. The daily breakfeast was very good and suitable for families on the go.
Location is really good. There are a number of fast food and sit down restaurants within walking distance. There is also a new grocery store and a Walgreens across the street from the property.
We have stayed at the Staybridge Suites in Anaheim and found it to be excellent. This property clearly does not compare with the Anaheim property, although it appears that renovations are in progress. Immediate attention needs to be paid to the guest suites. Although we are partial to Staybridge Suites, we cannot recommend this property until wholesale changes have been addressed to the guest rooms.
I would just like to say how wonderful we found our stay with Staybridge Suites in Lake Buena Vista, we would like to give our thanks to David on reception, for giving us a great upgrade (it was our honeymoon).
Even though refurbishment was going on, we had no problems from the workmen or the work taking place.
The rooms were kept tidy and clean - and the equipment was superb, any minor problem we encountered was dealt with promptly by all the staff and they are a very friendly bunch!
The one and only snag we met was getting around to all the theme parks, even though the hotel laid on a free shuttle to the Disney parks, it would have really helped if there was a shuttle to all the other theme parks.
But thank you all again for a fantastic stay.
Regards Tania & Colin (&daughters).
This Place Was Great
Stayed at Staybridge Suites from Nov. 29th to the 3rd of December. We Loved it here. Our room was ready early and we were allowed to check in early. Our room was spotless and perfect for our family of 5. We chose not to take the shuttles to the parks but drove them within 15 minutes each day. Most of the time the pool and hot tub were empty except for our family. The continental breakfast was great each morning and the happy hour meal fed our children almost each night. The staff was courteous and helpful. The laundry area was clean and orderly with the machines in good working order. And as others have said, even though the facility was under renovation, we heard nothing and the construction did not inconveinence us in the least. The marketing person sat with us one night at the happy hour and talked with us about our stay. We would definately choose this motel for our next stay.
Great for familes-much cheaper than Disney hotels!
We have stayed at this location twice. We have also stayed on Disney properties (villas) twice and let me tell you that for the money, Staybridge is better. We paid ONE THIRD the cost and had 2 bedrooms, a full kitchen, and breakfast included. The only thing is we had to actually get in our car to drive to the park, but I would rather spend my money on other things than the resort. Very comfortable, clean and served its purpose. This is where we stay when we visit Disney!
A hidden gem
We have stayed in many different hotels, some of them claiming to be "suites", but Staybridge is by far the best deal in the area. For the price, you can't beat having two separate bedrooms with their own TVs and full baths (yea, no kids stuff in my room!), and the extra pull out couch in the LR is great for the boyfriend...The breakfast offers plenty for all ages, and the facility is clean and easy to negotiate. The pool area does get a little noisy in the evening, but it closes at 10:00, so things quiet down. You can pay a lot more in WDW for a lot less, and I have found that having room for everyone to relax and get a good nights sleep makes for a much more enjoyable vacation all around!
Meston's Holiday Featuring Big Steve & Hurricane Charley
We had the good fortune to spend two weeks at this hotel during early August - we had a great time despite hurricane Charley which turned up half way through our stay!
The hotel is in a fantastic location being only a few miles from Disney, Universal and Seaworld.
We had a two bedroom apartment for four of us, two adults, and two children (11 & 14 years old) we had plenty of space, a full kitchen (Oven, Microwave, refrigerator), and 3 TVs!
Our favourite part of the hotel was the pool, a great place to cool off after a day at the theme parks. The free breakfast was great too - cereals, juice, toast, bacon, sausages, tea, coffee etc.
The staff were friendly and they were informative during the build up to hurricane Charley. There was a power cut for a few hours but apart from that the hotel did all they could to keep operating normally.
In some places the hotel is looking a little 'tired' although it is being refurbished (there was no disruption to our stay from this though).
When we return to Florida, we are likely to stay at this hotel again - hopefully without a hurricane joining us!!
Home away from home
I agree with all of the reviews here but want to add mine about the free internet 3 computers just off the dining area. I loved checking my email daily. It was also Quiet- no little kids here . So it was perfect for my teenagers. The place was extremely clean and kept up. Large comfy towels, comfy bed, and spacious kitchen area. The only thing lacking was Starbucks. I was so sick of that nescafe coffee they serve all over disney. Never did see one coffe shop while we were here. So bring your own coffee to use in the supplied coffee pot. THey had a snack tues thru thurs. One night we had hotdogs and hamburgers for our meal before we headed to the park for the evening fireworks.
Good place to saty
We stayed here for nearly a week in early January, and would certainly recommend it to families. We were in a 2 bedroom apartment, on the third floor. The stairs only bothered us when we arrived and left with our luggage, otherwise they weren't a problem. If you have older people or very young children you might want to ask for a ground floor unit. The apartments aren't fancy, but very comfortable with 2 good sized bedrooms and an adequate lounge/kitchen area. A bonus was having a TV in each bedroom and the lounge area. We found the beds to be large and comfortable. The breakfasts were very good, cereals, toast, juice, muffins, fruit and each morning a different hot option. You could pay extra to have pancakes or eggs etc made, but there was plenty without that. Adjacent to the breakfast area is a computer room, with 3 computers and free internet access, a real bonus. 3 nights a week they have the sundowner for 2 hours, with free beer/wine/soft drinks and light finger food. In very close walking distance there is an excellent supermarket, make sure you ask about the discount card when you go the first time. There are many other shops, including Walgreens very close by, and many casual restaurants and take aways in walking distance. The pizza place near the supermarket is very good, and they always charged us less than the advertised price.
The shuttles to the parks are pretty good, we did hire a car but it's not necessary for the parks, except for the Kennedy Space Centre which is about a 50 minute drive away and much cheaper to get to with a hire car than booking a tour.
The pool area is very nice, and there is an onsite laundry.
The property is not super modern, but quite comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful.
I would certainly stay here again, and recommend it to others, as long as you're not expecting luxury.
