I would definitely rent a car. Even if your hotel offers shuttles to/from the parks, you'll be at their mercy for timings, which is not always ideal with a small child. You may also want to visit places where a shuttle won't take you.

You can compare prices on or and then compare to the actual rental car company. It doesn't cost anything to book the rental car so if you find a decent deal you can book it, keep comparing, and then cancel if you find a better deal. (A good idea would be to bring your own GPS and car seat rather than pay an extra daily charge!)

Travel Tips for Orlando

VIP Escorted Disney Tours

by Dean2006

If you really want to get the most out of your Disney vacation, you can use a personal guide for your trip. Disney provides this VIP service (for a fee) where you basically have a personal guide to all the attractions. They know how to use the fast pass system, which rides to do first, make reservations at restaurants, arrange transportation, etc. You can basically see much more in a shorter time frame with less time worrying about the mechanics of the trip. I used Michael's VIP serivice as they can provide a tour guide for Universal Studios and other non Disney attractions as well. I really recommend this service! It's worth the extra cost.

I think arrangements for the VIP tour is made through the Disney Special Activities Office. Michaels' VIP tours web site is shown here:

do Everything!! Esp. Downtown Disney where we had a great time clubbing. There are so many diff. types of club. There Mannequins which we enjoyed and even a line dancing place! The friendly people. I miss hearing 'you're welcome' And the diverse population. I loved all the characters from the theme parks.

VISIT CITY WALK:CityWalk is...

by Michael_D

CityWalk is one of the best entertainment options. Built to compete with Downtown Disney in the 'nightlife arena.

Disney seems to be for families while Universal caters to everybody else. The attractions in CityWalk are billed by Universal as 'entertainment definitely more for adults. Universal Studios substituted Mickey Mouse with Bob Marley and Jimmy Buffet. LOL

CityWalk itself doesn't have an entrance fee, but the individual clubs have a cover. If you're only going to stay for one drink, go to CityWalk.

1-Bob Marley - This restaurant and nightclub is an authentic replica of Marley's home in Kingston, Jamaica.

3-Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville-It's a great place to have a cheeseburger in paradise. three bars, outside patio and balcony seating.

Disney's Extra Magic Hour

by cjg1

If you are a guest staying at one of the Disney owned resorts you are eligible to benefit from the Extra Magic Hours for the theme parks. On certain days on of the theme parks has extra magic hours. This means that if a park is scheduled to open at 9am, you can start your day at the park at 8am. If there is evening extra magic hours you will have to see a cast member to obtain a wristband to identify you as a Disney resort guest in order to stay for the later hours.

Packing List

by cosycarol

Take a large suitcase as you will want to return with lots of designer goods (factory shop outlets galore!) e.g. cheap Nike trainers, jeans etc. If in height of summer then very cool cotton wear needed and you will need comfy shoes for lots of walking, preferably open sandals. Don't forget a sun HAT! Sun tan lotion High protection factor. Take some revolutionery dry anti-bacterial hand wash liquid (in tiny clear plastic bottle) so you can picnic on beaches without walking miles to toilet basin to wash your hands!
