Orlando

by maria08

Hi everyone!
Me and my family are planning a trip to Orlando, Florida, in January so I have some question.
We are planning to rent a villa for couple of weeks and its our first time there so we are absolutely clueless about the town and everything about it. Which neighborhoods are good for a family with small children?
How is the overall standard of vacation villas in Orlando?
Thankful for answers

Maria

Orlando and it's suburbs cover a very large land mass. It would help if you picked a few villas that interest you and post the location info here. That would make it much easier for us to give you accurate info.

Hi,
We have been browsing many villas in the Orlando area there among some in Hampton Lakes, Solana Resort and also Window Bay.

I think this is the Hamptons that has been in the local news recently regarding the abundance and maintenance of overbuilt villas in the area. But definitely ask the property's management company as far as specific condition of the unit you are considering and the property's amenities such as pool, etc. Ones being managed and rented out by a company as villas I would think be in better maintained than an individual owner renting it out on their own, but other people may say otherwise.

I'll try to research on the other names you mentioned.

and on the front page is an icon for Orlando Villa area map - I'm a Travel Agent and use this all the time!

Some Villas are literally 30-40 mins drive from the Tourist areas so be careful!

Town houses are usually good to but they have a shared pool and not a private pool.

Some prefer private but others prefer the social aspect of a shared villa, especially those with children!

Travel Tips for Orlando

Orlando

by smirnofforiginal

Unless you are staying within the Disney complex and you are not going to venture out... you need a car to get about.... and the beauty of having a car means that you then don't have to be tied to the Disney complex... and if you are not tied to the complex you have a broader scope of accommodation available to you. A good base for exploring, not just Orlando but around, is Kissimmee - there are also some "lesser" attractions in and around Kissimmee, such as Gatorland Zoo.

Orlando is a great initial base and if you are not wishing to merely spend all of your time trudging around large theme parks it is worth exploring Florida in more detail and a chance to go to the Everglades National Park should not be missed. Of course, one of the most wonderful things about Orlando is just how child friendly it is - this is probably one of the easiest places for a family to holiday!

Disnery World of course!!

by ohhboy

Magic Kingdom near closing time at night: We ate at one of the resturants inside the theme park. When we finished, it was near closing time and the park was desserted. The music was still playing, the lights were still flashing and blinking. It felt like the park was reserved for just for us!! Really nice.

Disney websites

by Dabs

There are several unofficial websites devoted strictly to Disney Parks with tips on how to save money, how to beat the crowds, what rides to go on, advice on hotels, really any advice you could think to ask you will probably find on these websites and discussion boards. Here are three that I've found helpful:

All Ears Net

Dis Boards

Mouse Savers

Avoiding the crowds tip 2: Arrive early

by goingsolo

Plan to arrive by the time the park opens, especially if you're visiting on a weekend. Some of the Disney owned hotels allow their guests an earlier entrance to the parks. Take advantage of this option if its open to you. Early morning is a great time to catch some of the most popular rides as the bulk of the crowd doesn't arrive until late morning, especially on the weekends.

Hot Weather Ahead!

Pack lots of things to do in the car or on the plane, especially if you have kids. Don't put any valuables in your luggage carry it in your carry-on or it could get broken. Pack good shoes since most spots are a fair distance to walk when you have to park. Shots and T- shirts are recommended but also bring on sweater and one pair of pants because it can get cool at night. Bring a camera but not and expensive on or it may get stolen. You'll want to take lots of pictures of you and your family. You can't buy gum in any of the airport stores so pack lots!
