Travel Tips for Ormond Beach
Clean beaches, nice people... COLD water
by TxDevil
Ormond is one step away from the over priced Daytona. Just one tiny town North of Daytona... MUCH cheaper. I fell in love instantly. Walking up and down the beach until I got blisters on my feet. And wading SLOWLY into the water because it was soooo cold and refreshing.

Historic Ormond - The Hammocks c 1904
by grandmaR
This home, located at 311 on the east side of John Anderson Drive was built in about 1904 by Joseph Downing Price, the co-founder with John Anderson of the Hotel Ormond. It was built on a 'gentle rise' of land, with high ceilings, tall windows and a screened in porch in the days before air conditioning. The many huge oal trees that surround it and the nearby river also provide cooling.
Joseph Price married Mary Belle Pinkerton from Covington KY. Their son Hubert Price was one of the Ormond mayors. This home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (added in 1989 Building - #88001719. Period of Significance: 1900-1924, 1925-1949). It is a private home.

North of Daytona Beach, Ormond is more residential and the permenant home to many former northerners. Not much to offer relating to activities or shopping, it is a place to slow down and relax. It's also the adopted home of my wife's parents.
