~ Palm Coast, Florida ~
"Land of real estate developments and golf courses"
Located one hour south of Jacksonville and about 30 minutes north of Daytona Beach, Palm Coast is a planned community of the 1970s that has grown into a micropolitan hub of more than 30,000 residents. Home of the centrally located Palm Coast Resort & Marina with its many golf courses spread throughout town, Palm Coast is a city of real estate developments favored by retirees, boaters and golf enthusiasts. The actual beach itself is hidden from coastal route A1A by dense trees that give privacy to the upscale community's growing number of high rise oceanfront condominiums and golf resorts.
One unique place to stay in Palm Coast is the Lodge at Ocean Hammock, an oceanfront luxury boutique hotel situated in the middle of an oceanfront golf course. I haven't stayed here, but toured it during its grand opening. It is very nice, located on a secluded beach with its own golf course.
Perhaps Palm Coast's best asset is that it is centrally located between Flagler County's vintage Florida throwbacks of Marineland, the world's oldest marine life park (now a facility for swimming with dolphins), and the mom and pop town of Flagler Beach. Beautiful Washington Oaks State Gardens is also located just north of town.
