How do we get around in Panama City Beach, Florida

We are flying into Panama City next week and staying in a condo in Panama City Beach. Is renting a car the only way to get around? Does anybody have any experiences with renting scooters or golf carts there?

Yeah, a lot of people rent those scooters. There are several rental places right on the main drag. I'm sure you could Google that or just show up and get one. You don't see golf carts as much. You would have to drive them on the street, as there are no trails for them, and I can't imagine that's safe, even if it is legal.
PCB is pretty compact and easy to get around for the most part. The eastern side is more than the western side, so it depends on exactly where you're staying. There are plenty of restaurants and stores right by the hotel area though.
And I don't know how you're getting in there, but you'll need transportation from the airport, because that is definitely not walkable. A taxi wouldn't be too expensive though.

Buy FRESH local Seafood

If you are staying in Panama City and have the ability to cook in your accomodations, stop by a local market and pick up some fresh local seafood.
We've been going to Shrimp City for years now. They offer a variety of fresh shrimp and fish along with alligator and frozen Crab Legs. If you want, they'll steam them for you free. The prices here are less than at the Captain Anderson's pier and the people are very friendly and helpful.
They are located on Thomas Drive a little north of Captain Andersons. Look for Billy's Oysters and Pier 77. Pier 77 is owned by the same people who own Shrimp City so you can "try before you buy" if you would like! Open 7 Days a week.
There are many golf courses...

There are many golf courses and numerous bars and clubs too.You can also rent or buy fishing equipment and sailing and flotation devices.
Be prepared to spend time shopping. There are a million surf shops and discount stores. Spend your time efficiently or you will not be able to catch everything. We'll have to catch the parasailing and dinner cruise next time.
