Aren't all Holiday Inns identical? I thought that was the selling point of Holiday Inn.

no they are not. That is why I'm asking. The forums say that the two by the mall are very old & are the "old style" from the 80's, why they haven't been updated is beyond me. So, I'm trying to find one that isn't a 300.00 a night beach front or one that doesn't have mold issues (like I've read in the forums). This is my mother's first time to florida, I don't want it to be her last.
The main square in downtown has the county courthouse on one side, a small museum building on the other. It is framed by some of the nicer buildings in Pensacola. In the middle there is a bust of President Jackson and an obelisc honoring a XIX politician. It is a very nice square.
Good walking shoes, also water shoes, hat ALOE GEL Taking photos on the beach is great...but wrap camera in plastic bag. This keeps sand out of the camera. Take photos & wrap up camera immediately.

There are dollar bills everywhere you look. Make sure to bring your cash so you can leave your mark on the wall!! Soooo much to choose! It's all good! :)
I asked the people at the Navy Lodge what was a good place for dinner, and they recommended the Fish House downtown. I was doubtful because previously we had eaten lunch at Atlas Oyster and thought it was kind of yuppie and expensive. In fact the Fish House and Atlas Oyster are owned by the same people and have virtually identical menus.
The Fish House had a 20 minute wait, but Atlas Oyster had free tables. So we ate at Atlas. Atlas Oyster was just as I remembered. Expensive. They had sushi - not exactly down home cooking. They served things in big square plates. They had projection TVs on the wall with old time photos and some movie clips in a rotation. Service was a bit slow. Bob had the soup of the day and raw oysters, which he said were good, although a lot more expensive than the ones he had in Panama City. I had the special, which included a salad and fish served on top of mashed potatoes with a piece of chicken on top. Then I had Creme Brulee for dessert.
