44 Spanish Street B&B - In the heart of Old Town

We stayed at 44 Spanish Street in early July 2010 for a short one-night summer vacation. Luckily it was the off season, and one of the small rooms here ran just $95 a night, only a block from the tourist Mecca of St George Street.

The innkeeper, Linda, warmly greeted us and gave us our parking pass in the nearby city lot before we checked in. She happily showed us around her small, six-room inn, which she also lives in. Our room, the Orchid room, was located on the second of two floors, with easy access to both balconies via the central hallway, as well as the communal refrigerator, coffee pot, and breakfast area in the back courtyard. Our room also offered a full Queen-szed bed, a private bath, and relatively few other amenities, such as a tiny TV, an iron, and toiletries. The next morning Linda served a nice breakfast for all of her guests at 9am, featuring fresh breads, juices, coffee, tea, fruit, and a baked egg, spinach, and ham dish.

This hotel is a great little spot in a central location at a good price. Within one block of the inn, you can find a few pubs, restaurants, and numerous shops. Just three blocks away is the waterfront and the historic Castillo.
