You must visit St. George...

You must visit St. George Street. There is lots to see there & its tons of fun. But be prepared to do a lot of walking, no vehicles are aloud. But its definately worth it. Being from a cold state like minnesota i would have to say that i miss the warm weather and the beaches the most.
Old Spanish Trail
by davecallahan
In the early part of the 20th century, The Old Spanish Trail Association attempted to find all the original routes that the Spanish settlers/conquistadors took going from the Atlantic to the Pacific. They wanted to establish preservation societies to help save these connected remnants of Spanish heritage and culture (buildings, pathways, forts, artifacts).
The starting point for that "Old Spanish Trail" is right in St. Augustine, FL (the end point is in San Diego, CA and the headquarters is in San Antonio, TX, "the center"). There is not much to see other than a small park area with this globular monument and a plaque. They have a few paving stones that indicate the start of the trail.
The OST Association is still in the process of saving sites all along the trail as museums and parks. If you are interested, see the website below.
Nice Way to Spend an Evening
by TexasDave about Milltop Tavern
The tavern/restaurant occupies the upper floor of the 1800's water-powered mill. The open balcony seating allows yo to enjoy the breez from the nearby bay and ocean.
They offer live music daily.
Excellent Fried Calamari!
by Cowabunga78 about Matanzas Inlet Restaurant
Matanzas Inlet Restaurant is about as "old Florida" as one can get. Nighttime waterfront dining on the patio adjacent to the Matanzas Inlet (hence the name), is a special treat -- and one that can't really be had anywhere else in the area. There's no big pile of boats tied up in slips, no screeching traffic, no unruly crowds -- just a nice quiet place to enjoy a sunset and dinner of bountiful and fresh seafood. The wait staff is highly attentive, the beer is cold, and the shrimp are finger-licking good. For we locals, its where we go when we want to get away from the tourists -- especially the snow-birds. Well, here and Pomar's. Get the Fried Calamari ($7.95) -- its HUGE and perfectly prepared with a light crispy batter that doesn't drip with oil. Pair that with the Shrimp Basket (10 Jumbo Shrimp, fries and slaw for $10.99), and you have a feast!
It started with wanting a drink
by mcphapa about Scarlett O'Hara's
We stopped at this restaurant because it looked like a good place to have a beer. And we right on about that: great atmosphere (100+ year old house), good prices (2.25 a beer). The food on the other hand was not the best I had in St. Augustine. I think they could have had a more unique menu selection and should lower their prices. Overall, the customer service was great, and we got our food quickly.
