LIGHTNER MUSEUM Has exhibits of natural history...American, European, & Oriental art, a Victorian Village, tiffany glass and one of the largest collections of American cut crystal. Was originally a resort hotel built by Henry Flagler.

the spanish built a wooden watch tower on this site in 1569. the current masonary fort was built in 1740 by governor manuel de montiano to protect st. augustine's southern flank from british attack. the fort is located on a small island on the matanzas river and you take a ferry from the park headquarters on U.S. AIA. admission is free. from st. augustine go over the bridge of the lions to anastasia island and follow U.S. AIA about 15 miles to the park headquarters.
It is a nightclub on Anastasia Island if u like hiphop dance music that place is for you. Wednesdays they have Reggae music , Thursdays thru saturdays they have hiphop dance music. Thursdays are ladies night, Fridays are college night, Saturdays are for everyone who likes to have fun with hiphop dance music. Any dress code is fine.
We ate at the Santa Maria on July. The prices are overly inflated, and the food is so-so. The scallops and shrimp platter didn't even taste fresh. But what really got me was the bubble gum stuck to the bottom of my son's plate when the food was brought to him. I can't believe no one in the kitchen noticed a big piece of bubble gum stuck to the plate. When we notified the waiter about it he said, "Someone was being a snot." What a comment to add to the already unappetizing atmosphere. He did bring him a new plate, but looking back, we should have insisted that our son's meal be free. Feeding the fish was not worth it!
Mi Casa Cafe is located in the historic downtown of St. Augustine, in the heart of downtown on the main pedestrian street. After walking thru St. George Street, we always stop here for a drink or lunch. You can sit inside or under the trees outside. The atmosphere is laid back. Mi Casa offers a variety ranging from Spanish/Mexican cuisine to vegetarian favorites. There is always live music and there are different performers. That is the reason why we come here; Just sit back under the trees, have a nice lunch, and listen to the music.
