see the OLDEST HOUSE Looks...

see the OLDEST HOUSE Looks pretty good, don't you think, for being the oldest house in the U.S.! It's also called the Gonzalez-Alvarez house, and has been occupied by Americans and Europeans since the early 1600's. Was originally constructed of logs & thatch roof but burned down in 1702. Was replaced with coquina stone.
Birding in Anastasia Park
by davecallahan
The park area has a lightly wooded section, an ocean-front, beach section and a grassy marsh section, so you can see a variety of wading and shore birds. The park is on a migratory path for many species so what birds you see will depend on the time of year for your visit. (see the "birding" section in the website below for more details).
This park requires a lot of walking through beaches and grassy areas so come prepared with good footwear and pants.
You will see spoonbills, storks, the ever-present gulls, cranes, ducks, sandpipers at least. Swallows and owls are more rare sightings. We even saw a fair assortment of butterflies which must have been migrating through the region.
to get there:
from the corner of routes 214 and 1A, go southeast along route 1A to connect to A1A. go east on A1a to the park entrance
decent drinks

You'll never be disappointed eating here. The menu is changed daily. Awesome seafood, pasta and great wine. Love the ambience, an old house. Nice servers too. We always go there for dinner when we're in town. Seafood
Don't Miss This One For Seafood!
by missmommy19 about Outback Crab Shack
An excellent crab shack we stumbled upon. A little out of the way, but well worth the visit. Fried platters are heaping trays of seafood, "boil" (corn, sausage, broccoli, red potatoes, mushrooms), plus hushpuppies, fries, onion rings and cole slaw. We got the 1/2 platter which easily fed 2 for only $29.50. A dozen steamed clams served with the boiled vegetables was only $7. Also available is grilled or blackened fish, shrimp & chicken, burgers, bar-b-q ribs and chicken, seafood from the kettle, and a kids menu. Casual atmosphere, indoor and outdoor dining, plus TV's abound for the sports fans. Go there by auto or by boat, they have ample dock space. The fried platter, which included shrimp, gator, clam strips, crab cakes, plus all that I mentioned above. We were going to stop back on our way home from Orlando, but my husband didn't think he'd be able to drive home.
