GONE WITH THE WIND
by Helga67
Take a trolley tour to see the city. The tour starts at the visitor center. It travels through town at designated stops and pick-up points. You can get on and off at your own pace. One can opt to ride the trolley for the complete cycle and check out particular sites and discharge on the second trip. While on the trolley tour you will travel down a street which National Geographic stated as one of the most beautiful streets in America. Limbs are interlocked and form a canopy over the roadway. The street was filmed for the movie 'Gone with the Wind'
WASHINGTON OAKS STATE PARK
by shohman
One of the great things about St Augustine is the amount of protected land in the City. Washington Oaks park is located right off A1A and features plenty of undisturbed land and also falls right on the inner coast inlet. When we were there we watched a group of dolphins playing around on the inlet. It seems like a nice relaxing place to get your head together.
Entrance fee was $3.
A classy cigar bar
by spgood301 about Stogies
Stogies is, as the name impies, a cigar bar. And a very cozy one too. It's on two levels. Order your drinks and cigars on the ground floor. Enjoy them right there or bring them to the very cozy second floor, or to their patio outside. Stogies also offers live music - there was a good jazz band playing the night we were there.
One warning: the bar is kinda small, but they have several varieties of cigars and bottled beers too.
Stogies is a great place to just chill out, maybe for a nightcap. And did I mention that it's cozy? Casual, but you may want to leave the tank tops and ripped jeans at home
"Floribbean" Food
by donpaul77 about The Gypsy Cab Co.
The Gypsy Cab Co. prints it's menu Daily. I almost feel like I don't need to add anything to this review after that, but I will.
This is a great place to enjoy some truly original, eclectic cuisine just outside of downtown St. Augustine. It is a favorite with locals. It is casual, but the food rises far above jeans and teeshirts. Artwork from local artists decorates the walls and a food savvy staff has no problem telling which dish you should choose. You may need their help because everything on the menu is appealing. I ordered braised lamb shank which was served with carrots, mash and beets. My Sierra Nevada ale went pretty well with it. We had desert as well, but i can't remember what it was...but it was good. Everyone at the table raved about their food.
Great Restaurant But Expensive!
by maryellen50 about La Pentola
I splurged at this place for my Christmas Day dinner. Food excellent. Florida is one of those places that in order to get good food you have to pay more $$$ otherwise the food is mediocre. Spicy pasta dish with baked brie and glass of merlot wine.
