More about Penny Farthing Inn

Loved It!

by TripAdvisor Member littlekimmer

My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary in St. Augustine at the Penny Farthing Inn. It was perfect.
We had a late arrival but Patty, the Inn Keeper, was very accommodating and allowed us to check in late. The room, the Dawn, was wonderful. It had a very comfortable king size bed. The room itself was spacious and had all that we needed. The adjoining private bath had a jacuzzi tub which was also the shower. Everything was neat and clean.
Patty provided delicious breakfasts, something new each morning. There was also snacks available all day and a yummy dessert at night. We also enjoyed the different wines they had to offer.
St. Augustine itself was great. There is so much to do and so many restaurants. The inn is in a great location and we found we could walk to almost everything.
The Penny Farthing Inn was a great find! We were very pleased.

You can't go wrong.

We stayed two nights and had a great time. The room was very nice, clean, had a great bed, and was quiet. The owners were very friendly and made us feel very much at home. It is well located, just a block or two away from the main town square. We feel it was good value for money, really can't fault it at all, and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Very Romantic, Don't Miss out on this Gem.

We stayed at this B&B on our way home from Key West ,New Years Eve weekend. What a great place. We stayed in the Tree house above the carriage house. We had our own porch with two rocking chairs, very quaint. This Inn is off the main road so it is very quiet. We went for a walk int the rain and enjoyed every minute of getting to see this great historic city. The Inn had just changed ownership and when we returned we joined the new owners and two other guests in the parlor for a glass of wine. We then took some movies from the library provided in the main house and retired to the room for wonderful quiet relaxation. This was our first experiance with a B&B Inn and we definately plan on staying at more due to our stay at the Penny Farthing. We had a wonderful breakfast prepared by the owners the next morning and were very sad we did not have more time to enjoy this Inn. We will return.

Great Stay...Penny Farthing Inn

What a great find in St. Augustine. A reasonable B&B with wonderful accomodations, delicious breakfast and beautifully decorated home. The hosts were gracious, yet not obtrusive. Definitely stay in the Tree House room, you won't regret it.

Great Time at the Penny Farthing Inn (B and B)

The Penny Farthing Inn, St. Augustine, Florida

We have stayed in many B and Bs in St. Augustine, but this weekend was the best experience ever. Marie and Dave were very gracious hosts, Marie is an EXCELLENT cook, the Inn was clean and very comfortable. Price was good, extremely good value for cost. Private balconies, lots of wine and snacks. We had a great time, will tell our friends, and return to this BandB on our next trip to St. Augustine.

Loved the Penny Farthing Inn B&B

We spent an amazing, restful & romantic, weekend at the Penny Farthing Inn B&B. Located on a quiet street, the inn is within walking distance to the historic district. We parked our car & forgot about it. We spent late afternoons relaxing and sipping wine on the porch. While we spent most of our time exploring St. Augustine, there is plenty to keep you busy at the inn. There is a wide assortment of games, movies, and books. The owners are new and we felt like they were friends from the moment we met them. Plus they are wonderful cooks too, breakfast was delicious. We would recommend the Penny Farthing Inn B&B to anyone.

A Great First Experience

by TripAdvisor Member roaminone

This was our first stay at a B&B and we couldn't have picked a better place. Marie and David are great hosts - she fixes excellent breakfasts. Snacks and drinks were available 24/7.
Easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants on St. Georges St.
We stayed in the Carriage Room which is in the back on the first floor. Nice and cozy.
If you have a nice evening, don't miss taking the horse and carriage ride through the streets of the old town. The driver will pick you up right at the front door!

Wonderful place to stay!

We had the most fantastic stay at the Penny Farthing. It was so close to eveything without all the traffic and noise. The house was very clean, inviting and comfortable! Breakfast was absolutely perfect!
Our hosts were very helpful with giving great suggustions regarding the St. Augustine area. They were also the most welcoming hosts! We will return and recommend the Penny Farthing to our friends and family.

Penny Farthing...A quaint and romantic place!

by TripAdvisor Member cristim914

From the moment we stepped onto the grounds of Penny Farthing and smelled the wood chips burning, we just knew that this was the place for us!!! Marie was already waiting at the door as we walked up the front steps. She was very welcoming and accomodating. She had baked a delicious cake for our arrival and poured some wine to help us destress from the long drive. We then took a tour of the home...Each of the rooms was very cozy and quaint. We loved ours (Cherry Rose) since it had a nice little porch with rockers. We sat out quite a bit driking wine and enjoying the sound of birds making their little nests up above. The Penny Farthing fits right in to the antique, romantic feel of St. Augustine. If you are able to stay in the months of December and January, it is well worth it. The weather is just perfect and the city is glowing with millions of lights. It is quite a site! The location of the Penny Farthing is a big plus b/c you are walking distance from almost everything. Marie and Dave will give you great recommendations on places to eat...don't miss A1A and Columbia. Those were our favorites! If this is your first time at St. Augustine, you might consider taking the trolley instead of walking the entire time. Although most things are very close by, your feet will pay the price after a couple of days of site-seeing! All in all, it was a fabulous weekend... we will definitely miss awakening to the smell of breakfast every morning!!!

Marie and Dave, thank you for making our anniversary extra special!!! We have already begun recommending your inn to family and friends!!!

Fantastic Victorian B&B

by TripAdvisor Member weluvdoxies

This was our 5th time staying in St. Augustine. We were familiar with the Inn, but had never stayed there.
We are so glad we selected the Penny Farthing! The new owners (Dave & Marie) are fabulous. They are very accomodating, personable, generous folks, and the staff is just as friendly. We felt as if they were old friends.
Their Inn is comfortable, cozy, quiet & clean. The victorian decor is perfect for the house .
The smells of gourmet breakfast /coffee awaken you, and the presentation of breakfast is such a treat.
The day we checked in, they had homemade carrot cake set out on the quaint victorian table setting that we helped ourselves to. There's a nice wine selection, beer, sodas & tea available at all times.
We selected the Cherry Rose room which was comfy and charming. Since we'll be returning often, we plan on selecting a different room each time so we can get a feel for them all.
The owners know the area very well and are able to recommend whatever it is that you would like to do. So if you're unfamiliar with the area, just ask them.
I know we'll be back !
